What's new

🛠️ What have you done to your F150 Tremor this week?

Got the custom made steering wheel last night. First thing I noticed is that it feels "substantial" in my hands and not cheap or flimsy. It is thicker than the stock heated wheel, so getting used to that fatter grip will take a few days I'm sure. From a color matching perspective, the stripe and stitching are definitely more orange than the OEM stitching. I don't think it will be enough to bother me, but once I get it installed and live with it for a few days I'll know for sure. Disregard the optical illusion In the picture that makes the wheel look like it's 4x the size of the OEM heated wheel. It actually is the exact some outer diameter as the stock wheel. One thing I am going to do is let it "breathe" at room temperature for a few days before I install it. You can tell it got boxed and sent as soon as it was built because when I opened the box there was a heavy adhesive smell and I definitely don't want that lingering around in the cab of my truck. Once I let the adhesive smell dissipate and can find time in my schedule to get it installed I will update and provide more pictures.

Where did you order it from?

$90 for shipping from China?
Tariffs I guess. :ROFLMAO: Even with that shipping cost it still ended up cheaper than any other custom built wheel I could find. The next cheapest wheel (besides the Amazon CF wheel - and I didn't want CF) came in between $570-$725.

The week is young so to start off, replaced the pathetic Ford rear shocks with Bilstein 5100 (PN: 33253190) shocks. Took me about an hour cuz I'm old and fat. Ride was noticeably improved; no more bouncing over bumps and sway in turns. I'll get the fronts done this summer.

I know zip about shocks but the factory shocks were very soft and easy to compress.

Was your truck leveled before you did the Bilstein if not did it change anything? Did it change the rake?

I did the reverse level a few months ago; took out the rear blocks. The rake is now 1.5" and nothing changed in terms of headlights, alignment, etc. When I do the fronts I will keep stock height.

OK Thanks. I'll would probably just do the shocks and leave the rest stock.
Do you think the stock shocks are really that bad?

I do. Mine were very soft and I could compress them or extend them with one hand and they would stay in whatever position I put them in. The right one was way softer than the left but they had the same part number. Switched at 1200 miles

How many miles were on the stock shocks?

They are easily the worst part installed on your truck from the factory. Total crap. You'll see when you replace them. Amazingly better ride and handling when I added my Eibach PTR's.

So, for those of us that have the Pro Access tailgate, there aren’t really any options for a side step to get into the back of the truck when you have the entire tailgate down…mainly because of the exhaust.

I found one on Amazon that is specifically for this issue. It’s not retractable (I wish it was), but it will do for now until one comes out. Good price too…only $90.

took it to Carolina beach Ft Fisher and ran it through deep sand for two beach days.reduced tire pressure to 20 and finally remembered all the dash gadgets, put in spport mode and 4H, it had zero issues in real deep soft sand. But bought the best tire inflator out there. I dont need to attach the charger to my battery- with the 2kw generator i plug right into the bed outlet fill tires quickly. Now it wont fit under the rear seat but if tops off a tire from 20 to 38/40psi in a minute or two. When i return to the beach, the pump will be stowed in the truck bed. Plus-its super quiet- had to buy an air hose and locking inflator but watching the truck dash on tire inflation psi level was super simple. I highly recommend this rascal- https://www.harborfreight.com/1-gal...-hand-carry-jobsite-air-compressor-64592.html
