402A and Trailer Tow Package-Why?

I've been hoping as well!

Perhaps you are right. But here are some more specifications. My radiator thickness is 1” and attached is the radiator number and also radiator fan specification. Can someone please compare? I have the tow technology package. I can’t see an external transmission cooler. But I see a lot of cooling hoses, I don’t have a rack and I’m not able to remove the front skid plate. Perhaps when I change the oil in a few weeks.
I have the tow package (the one that was $1000 something) and my stuff all appears identical. Same radiator (I measured 1.1” thick), same sway bar, same rear leaf springs (mine just ends in ED), same hitch and ratings on it.

Did you count the fins?

Does the Tremor have the 3/4 floating 9.75 axle or the 8.8? I need to research this a little.

16 pages in and I’m still uncertain…

2022 402A. I didn’t order it, but just bought it last week. The window sticker shows Tow Tech included, does not show Trailer Tow.

I do not have the 12 pin Smart Trailer Connector needed for Customer placed Trailer Camera/Yaw Sensor/etc, which sounds like comes with the Trailer Tow package. I just have the 7 pin/4 pin.

I have three leaf springs, though the bottom leaf is so short if you didn’t look behind the wheel you’d think there were only two leaves.

The vin decoder said mine had 10,900 lb rating but I think that’s generic. My hitch has the 11,600 rating like everybody else.

Pics attached.

There is an online towing calculator based upon your vehicle VIN.
My VIN: 1FTEW1E89NFB05553
Someone out there double check the screen shot.

My 22 non Trailer Package (just tow tec package 401A) shows that it has a 1,759 lbs max payload based upon 300 lbs occupant weight with a max load of 1,110 and 11,100 lbs towing. (conventional) see attached..... this makes no sense and I would never tow this much. I thought max towing is 10,900 lbs.... the confusion continues.

I looked up my VIN this morning and got the same results as @DRvampTremor150 outside of the max. payload. which matches the sticker in my door jamb.

I have a 22 402A w/ $210 Trailer Tow Package. I attached my towing calc and equipment options.

The trucks with or without the “Trailer Tow Package” seem to have the same parts if you get the “Tow Technology Package”. There is no way Ford would put a thicker radiator core or more fins with a better fan, better sway bar or a transmission cooler or anything else on the Trailer Tow Package for $210. The trucks seem to be the same in my opinion. I am interested in adding a transmission cooler with a fan if anyone out there knows of some good options just to cool the fluids more when towing in intense heat in the mountains.

Does everyone with Trailer tow Package and Tow Technology Package have the 7 pin atop the 12 pin tow harness connectors?

Whereas does everyone with Tow Technology Package but not Trailer Tow Package have the 7 pin atop the 4 pin (like me)?

Looking through the order guide- without the tow package, it says you're limited to 6000 pounds. Also, it looks like pro back up assist isn't there? Anyone confirm? My 402A trailer package is listed as 53A. Also, all tremors get the 9.75" gearset.

Zimm we have discussed and discussed this and to be honest it's hard to say, for most of what we could find, search in here, pretty much the only info we keep getting is all Tremors can tow 10,900 lbs. Ford doesn't give a clear answer.

I don’t think this solves anything, but thought it was relevant. Watching this TFL Truck episode and at 17:45 Mr Truck rants about wedges that Ford puts under the leaf springs of “Max Tow Package” equipped ford Trucks that give it such a rake. We all know The Tremor wasn’t offered with a Max tow package option, but at 10,900lbs it’s still fairly high up there. I just went and looked and do have the wedges in mine.

What’s my point? Well if these wedges are indicative of the highest payload configuration per trim level, and if all of us have them regardless of Trailer Tow package, then perhaps we do truly all have 10,900lbs tow rating.

2022 402A, no Trailer Tow Package

Lol, I think Mr. Truck is partaking in some local herbal remedies. As far as I know, the wedge shaped block is only to mitigate sag, not having anything to do with the tow or capacity rating. The idea is that you're forcing the arc to react earlier and by doing that you engage the second spring earlier. You'll find it on the raptors for that reason, too. lighter springs=more comfortable ride, wedge=less likely to look like you're from the carolinas

I've been following this thread since I ordered my '22 402A in early 2022. I went ahead and added the tow package for $210 with the mindset of "I've already spent this much money so what's another $210?". I also thought that it could be a minor factor in resale value, whenever that day comes. After all of this, I still have no idea what that money bought me...

I just checked my tow capacities on https://www.ford.com/support/towing-calculator (part of your vehicle dashboard, so I'm assuming you'll need to register if you haven't already). My 2022 402A with only "TOW TECHNOLOGOGY PACKAGE (NO CHARGE)" lists my "Max Trailer Rating" at:

Your Vehicle's Capacity

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating: 7,000 lbs
Gross Combined Weight Rating: 17,100 lbs
Max Payload: 1,589 lbs

Added Weight

Occupant(s): 300 lbs
Cargo: 0 lbs
Accessories: 0 lbs

Conventional Hitch

Max. Tongue Load: 1,110 lbs
Max Trailer Rating: 11,100 lbs

As you adjust the occupant weight, the max trailer rating adjusts accordingly. So simply change it from 300 lbs. to 500 lbs. and you will get the magic 10,900 lb. rating.

If you configure with a gooseneck or 5th wheel, the max trailer rating goes from 11,100 lbs. to 8,593 lbs.

Oh shit the calculator is kinda "back", nice.
