402A and Trailer Tow Package-Why?

Wow! That’s not much sag for an assumed 800 pounds of tongue weight. I have 3 leafs in my springs, is yours 3 also? flagman
Total it's 1040 tongue weight with a 65 pound LD hitch. That's really not terrible generically and with the LD connected and hitch height adjusted, it will work well before I build the truck. I'll be calling Deavers, today.

If the window sticker says #7000 (and doesn't mention the trailer tow package), then your max tow is #7000. I think Rotorhead mentioned the 53A having the upgraded transmission cooler and maybe something else which isn't identified in the build and price (or anywhere I could find). Tremors don't have a max tow package, only a trailer tow package (53A) that allows us to pull 10K+. There are questions whether or not the Torsen adds an increase payload/towing of ~ 200 pounds.
The transmission cooler is the same on all of the 10-speed transmissions regardless of towing package, but the trailer tow package does upgrade the radiator.

On another note. I hooked up the truck to my 8000 pound trailer without the load distribution bars and it had a 1/2 in squat.

I imagine with them it'll have about a 1 inch rake. Add on the gear, dogs and wife and it'll be about level before a front lift. I hope dravers has an answer for me.
The Eibach front springs are known to lift the front too high on my truck if you don't adjust the rear. I wish I had gone with the +4 HD instead of the +3 HD. With ~ 400lbs in the bed I sit perfectly level without a trailer, but squat a bit with a trailer and no WD hitch. I would be OK with around 1" of rake.

I think the 7000# window sticker is GVWR. Bare truck weights a bit over 5k with a bit under 2k payload. Even trucks with the tow package say that on the window sticker.

The confusion around what this tow package does is extremely understandable. I also did not get the tow package based on the info they provided. It's interesting that even with the truck people can't really tell if it has the tow package or not.

See if there is a PN stamped and the radiator and compare?

I agree, for those that ordered a Tremor with the 402A package without the trailer tow package want to know what is mechanically different than those with it. Outside of what is listed on stickers and in brochures. Extra leaf springs, larger radiators, trans coolers etc. Something mechanical (not listed anywhere) is allowing for the extra tow rating.

Similar to the 4 Auto on the 402A package being the Raptor transfer case. Kind of nice to know when deciding on which package to choose.

Don't kill the messenger, please! I just spoke with Chip at Granger Ford who was placing an order at the time I called him. I asked him what specifically is included in the trailer tow package on a Tremor? It has nothing to do with radiator cooler, springs, etc it's simply what stated in the 53a package that I listed above nothing more. He couldn't comment about my order on my 21 which of course is delivered as he said we never got a 21, but I assure you it was included in my package as I have all the items listed in the 53A. I think I'm done with this thread, but who knows 😊 flagman

So do Tremors even come with the single leaf and composite? I've only seen them with the 3 leafs.

Flagman said he had no tow package and 3 leafs. Just an odd situation ... seems like Ford really dropped the ball on this. It's sad that this was talked about like in August and still is unclear even though people have vehicles now. If there is a difference it must only be the radiator? That's the only thing I can think of that I haven't seen anyone compare.

Funny, my truck is the 21 Tremor they got.

Here is some generic information about the differences between trailer tow and max tow. I wish I saw something between the tech and trailer tow but it's something.

**This is not Tremor specific**
Trailer Tow Package includes:

  • 4-pin/7-pin wiring harness
  • Auxiliary transmission oil cooler
  • Engine Oil Cooler
  • Class IV trailer hitch receiver
  • Pro Trailer Backup Assist
  • Tailgate LED
  • Smart Trailer Tow Connector
  • Upgraded front stabilizer bar
The Max Trailer Tow Package includes everything in the standard package except the auxiliary transmission oil cooler. Added in the Max Trailer Tow Package are:

  • 3.55 Electronic-locking rear axle
  • 36-gallon fuel tank
  • Integrated Trailer Brake Controller
  • Upgraded rear bumper
To add the Max Trailer Tow Package, you also have to switch to the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost engine.

I did also come across a variety of springs on the f150 the first two and second two were similar with a different weight to arc ratio on the higher rated two.

Hello all,
New member looking to purchase a new Tremor here hopefully by spring. I'm a little confused by towing package options on the Ford Build and Price tool.

All of the windows stickers I've seen thus far on 402A's have the $1,090 trailer tow package but I'm having trouble understanding why.

On the build tool, the "Class IV trailer hitch" (and 7-pin wiring and Smart Trailer Tow connector) option is standard on all Tremors. Additionally, if you select the 402a package, that includes the "Tow Technology Package" which adds Pro Trailer backup assist, 360 degree camera, Trailer brake controller. So why are most/all of the 402a stickers I'm seeing also including the "Trailer Tow Package"? As far as I can tell, the only option the trailer tow package MIGHT add beyond the class IV hitch and "Tow Technology package" options is the potentially the Tailgate LED, though it says that is standard on Lariat and higher (not sure if Tremor is considered higher than Lariat). Even if the Tailgate LED isnt already part of the tremor, $1,090 seems pretty stout to just add the tailgate led...

Is this a mistake on the Build tool or are all these 402a's with the Trailer Tow package just adding $1,090 cost with no additional features??

My dealers couldnt answer my question. Maybe i was asking it wrong. Not sure if I can tow 10,000 on my current preliminary build out.

I've seen plenty of dealers put out the wrong info, he just may not know. There is a thread in the Facebook page that someone posted a chart showing the different radiator. I don't have it handy, but I've seen the Ford publication listing it. Regardless, I wouldn't buy a truck without the package.

Dang! Can you post a link to that Facebook page? Thank you, flagman

Need the “trailer tow package” to be up the the 10,000lbs towing capacity. The technology package just give you the electronic break and reverse steering knob

Here you go:

My dealer assured me all tremors can tow 10,900lbs. 3.5 ecoboost, 5'5 bed length, with 3.73 gears.
