Air Bags

The picture is when I installed and the frame was sitting on jack stands with the diff hanging. Once I put the wheels back on the bags sit perfectly in the cradle. You can see that when it would articulate (doubt I would ever be on trail that would have it do that much for this pavement princess) it would come out of the cradle and drop right back in without ripping.

I like that design though. Thats always been my fear, ripping a bag when flexed. I appreciate the feed back.

In the process of installing the airlift 5000 with daystar cradles and am wondering for you guys that have levelling kits, did you install the provided spacer as well? I never did,but with the truck sitting on the ground I have a little movement on the bags. Still have to run air lines so not sure if that’ll go away once I add the recommend 5psi.

After adding 5psi the bags are sitting nicely…thanks for the reply and picture.

Looking at doing the same exact setup as you...and like you other than when I tow toys to the offroad park or play in some fields, my truck will see limited offroad duty for now. Have you had any unloaded bottoming out on the jounce bumpers in the Ultimates? Debating between the 88355 and 57355.

So do any of these air bag kits limit up and down travel during suspension articulation off trail?

I would say all of them do. Thats why i didnt mount my bag to the axle, it will pull away from the lower mount when flexing. Obviously this would be bad under load. But i would not have my truck loaded with air bags pumped up and off roading at the same time.

If you read the thread you can get the Daystar cradles and they will not limit travel.

I've actually read all 3 pages, I'm not understanding how the cradle extends the air bags travel, guess I'll have to look them up how they function

Post 36 shows them out of the cradle.

Makes perfect sense now, I wasn't thinking out side of the box before , had no idea there were air bags that don't need to be bolted in at both ends, cradled under load, detached for full articulation when not loaded 👍

Its not how they are designed, Its how we are using them.

Has anyone put air bags on their Tremor yet? I always use the Firestone Ride Rite 2582 kit on my F150s. Kit says it is for 15-22 except Raptor, and I can’t think of any reason it wouldn’t work on the Tremor.
i installed the Firestone kit on my 22 tremor with 0 issues...

Ended up doing the Air Lift ones since the Firestone wont fit if you have the sensor arm for the self leveling headlights. 400a and 401a could probably use the Firestone kit. 402a cant (at least without modifying some brackets).

Did you have to modify the ABS bracket for the lower mounts on yours?

Anyway to defeat the headlight leveling sensor? I want to aim my headlights up a bit for longer throw.
Will adjusting the screws on the headlights make any diference with the self leveling lights?

Yes. You can still adjust with the screws

Thanks to everyone on the insight. The daystar cradles seem like a great solution. So would you recommend airing down to 5psi before off-roading with the travel trailer?

With that small trailer I can't imagine putting more than 20 PSI in them. I would just try it out full at what ever you end up needing. Then drop to half the PSI and try it. Remember if you get the ones without the jounce bumper you no longer have hard bumpstops. So there is potential of the extra weight of the trailer pushing the rear of the truck down past the original bump location with only 5 PSI.
