What's new

Anyone explored replacement leaf springs?

Yeah I was primarily targeting the 2nd use case @Tremor Trails mentioned - 2.5" lift with a heavy RTT. I wouldnt mind an inch or two of rake to have additional headroom to haul 100-200 lbs more in the bed without much sag. After looking up the L84HD it seems like this fit the ticket, so I'm wondering what the difference is between the raptor packs vs these tremor pack they designing?
What we've noticed is, we still we have a slight sag with 500lbs in rear. This is at a 2.5in front lift from stock. As far as fitment goes, They're identical. If you have any kind of level kit on the truck we're having a hard time getting any rake back in the truck so when we actually put weight back there, we're nose heavy. Now stock "stock", doesn't appear to have issues. But most folks I know, including myself we have the truck leveled or lifted.

Assuming you also had the typical 4+ inch Tremor rake. So sag with 500# was dropping their L84HD >= 1.5"?
Kinda makes me wonder if the L83 would maintain stock rear height even, I have 1.5" spacer up front which resulted in 2" up and that's max I intend with coilover. Is your rear shock softer than stock (thinking you have halolift), seems unlikely?

Yeah I'm running Halo 2.5dia. And Correct 1.5 almost 1.75 of sag under weight. We could obviously add rear block to gain that back but kinda defeats the point. I tried on the +4 and still need lift on a 2.5 level with weight in back.

Well this is great info. At least I know L84 range would better suit me. I'll likely land a little lower front lift, so maybe for me it works out. Have a few months before pulling trigger on suspension so I'll keep lurking for any more you or others have to share. Ty

Im also running the Halo 2.5's and have about 2.25" of lift in the front. During a recent trip to Utah carrying about what I would estimate 300-400lbs in the bed with a 120lbs kid in the rear seat gave me about 1.5" of sag as well. I didnt measure exactly but with an empty bed I had close to an 1/2 inch of rake, after loading it up I was about an inch lower than the front.

@Tremor Trails any new updates from your work with Deaver? I was thinking about purchasing RAS as an inbetween solution but since you mentioned issues with offroading its holding me back. Do you think the RAS will hold up to light/intermediate offroading without causing damage? Planning on a baja trip so not sure how well they will handle that but Im not planning on mobbing it on the trail

We're still working on a spring with Deaver. He's trying to figure out the math I think. The new spring would essentially give us like a 4 to 4.5 inch lift in the back (loaded). As far as the RAS system. The system works for most people but I've found after testing the crud out of it, it's not that great for hard trails. When the truck was flexed on an obstacle I would notice the RAS slamming into my frame and or the spacers for the bump stops they give you to add. I already shaved down the spacers once and still the bars on the RAS would smack against either my frame or the spacers. We're talking like 4+ 5 maybe 6 rated type trails. On a simple forest road type trail the system will do great 2's 3's. The RAS has a lot of good things about it but for my needs, I found its limitations. Baja has some tough trails but IMHO as long as you install it right (making sure not to break off the light leveler) I still think it's a good purchase if you're looking for some more lift in the rear. Just be aware you might run into the same issues I did if you're tweaking the truck out on the trails.

The problems with the ras come with the puck.

Has Scott done the math on the 86HD? I average about 1000 pounds loaded with 860 in the back. At this point, I'm interested to see what Scott comes back with. Also, I'm swapping out the Elka springs with the Eibach 650s. Part of that ride quality is those over preloaded elka springs. If my maths is right, I'll be at a 3.6" preload to lift the chin 2" from stock

Honestly not sure. I'll have to ask him. Let me know how the new setup works for ya! I'm most likely moving away from the Halo as well. My needs have changed and need more control of ride.

Bringing back a 2 month old thread. Any update on this or did it go the way of the....trail? Harhar

Yeah. Read thru that. I won't let anything Icon ever touch any of my vehicles ever again. Had a VERY bad experience with them on one of my 4Runners so they won't get a penny of my money no matter how good their stuff is or what they come out with. So hoping something else comes out specifically for the Tremor instead of relying on Raptor ones or RAS. I wouldn't mind using RAS and taking it off to offroad. Be soley for towing anyway since I don't do the whole "overland" look so no rack or RTT. Been there, done that.

Yeah, I definitely get that. Just like the fronts, it's really about measurements. For those that have normal use cases deaver L83 or L84. Or any other Gen2 Raptor spring.

interested to see how this pans out, I have about 400 lbs. in the bed at all times and would appreciate a progressive leaf spring that doesn't sag 2"
I will wait

I ended up ordering the RAS kit, I'm planning to install this week.

Any reason you didn't opt for the Icon set? I personally went to airbags with daystar cradles after hearing the issues Tremor trails was having
I'm not a big fan of Icon in general.

Per Tremor trails latest video, those issues are now corrected. Also specifically called out in the install instructions from RAS. Plus their HQ is ten minutes down the road from me so if I have issues hopefully they can lend a hand.

I also plan to install 1" shorter rear blocks so that I can maintain my current ride height, or as close as possible.

Ah good stuff, always nice to have a manufacturer local to you :)

I'll probably try out RAS in the future and maybe switch from Halo's as well since the airbags do make the ride a little stiffer. Its giving me the traditional truck bobblehead bounce. I'm still chasing the ride quality I get from dobinsons IMS that I have on the 4Runner

I'm planning to install this week hopefully, just waiting on the blocks to come in. I'll report back. Have a 100 mile trip towing the boat coming up in a couple weeks as well. Towing is really the reason I went with the RAS.

I've got BP-51s on our T4R, but the wife is boujee :ROFLMAO:

So its been awhile, anyone try out some different leaf pack solutions with deaver or icon? After going offroad a bit with the tremor and halo lift 2.5's im feeling like the springs are the weak point even with airbags, its causing me way too much body roll going up mountain passes unless I have bags pumped up to 50psi. Even then I still feel quite a bit of roll. Im still trying to troubleshoot, but its either the Elka's are too soft at the low end of the valving or the springs, but im leaning toward the springs.
