Axle rust?

Okay, I glanced under the truck over the right rear tire and can see some rust on the front of the rear axle.

I am scheduled to take it to Line-X — across the street from the dealership — on Monday, January 17th after Ford does my driveshaft recall work.

Line-X is applying a product called Valugard as an under carriage protectant against rust for $500. They are going to apply a chemical rust converter over the rusty axle areas prior to treatment. The service includes a fogging type application inside the door panels to protect from rust as well.

I was told the treatment is guaranteed for 8 years. Anybody have any experience with this?
Who’s paying for that?

My MY22 looks similar to your guys'. There is plenty of rust visible. On the plus side, my underbody insulation came riveted to the body and my driveshaft isn't busted lol.

Not sure I care enough to do anything.
Care to take a few pics of the underbody insulation? Would like to compare how my dealer does it. Thanks in advance!

All of my insulation has the black plastic pop rivet things on it. I think based on pictures though that they might have just removed the insulator that was causing issues. The only insulation panels I have are way towards the front barely even over the drive shaft. There is zero insulation panels in the middle or back of the driveshaft area.

Just watched this video. At 2:53 they put it up on a lift and you can see the axle rust.

Maybe it’s a November build thing. Mine was delivered mid December and same thing. Front on rear diff is basically it. Weird it’s the exact same place on all of them

Picked mine up today.

Did Granger say anything about it? What did you check when you picked it up?

I didn’t even look underneath when I picked it up. It was - 1 or something and I had a 10 hour drive home. Checked the exterior and the engine compartment and then Chip ran through the features and I was on my way.

I'll be in a similar boat lol don't blame ya, 24 hour drive here. Will give a once over on the outside and the engine like you said and be on my way. Congrats again!

It’ll be 16 for me.

If I lived in the south I would use the rubberized costing. Up here in the north that's a disaster waiting to happen. I might raise hell with Ford or use a primer and Rust-Oleum paint if nothing can be done.
