Hrmm, maybe put some Cherry bombs onThis is just another reason why straight pipes are better.

That’s exactly it. Like whos buying these. Don’t you think it’s odd when someone comes in with more than one?Live is what I consider a pretty safe town and people are getting CATs stolen when in Costo etc... crazy. If they shut down the buyers there would be no market. Buyers getting 100s of brand-new CATs per day and claiming they are a legit business...
Yeah i would be down if it can get to canada too
Yes! I was looking at these but it didn't seem like the transmission one would cover the Cat. Let us know how it works out.I just received my 1/4” aluminum RCI Transmission Skid over the weekend & currently have it at a metal shop getting the 2” sidewalls flattened out for this specific reason.
I spoke with Tech support at RCI & explained what I wanted to do & they said it would be no problem & the skid would still work as intended. When asked why they fold it up on the sides they said it just helps to reinforce even more, but it still will be plenty flattened out.
I will post some pics when I get it installed.
In it’s stock form it provides no coverage at allYes! I was looking at these but it didn't seem like the transmission one would cover the Cat. Let us know how it works out.
Funny enough, I was thinking about using a 48V battery pack for my overlanding stuff. Guess that'll be a go on that project!People are stealing the got dang cats? What in the world.
Makes me want to move out to the country and never come back.
I've seen people wrap them with rebar but this solution looks much more professional.
I say hot wire it to the battery. Make it worth their trouble.
I love the idea... Until I saw aluminum.Hello again my Tremor counterparts. I come with a new question. Has anyone thought about adding protection for their Catalytic Convertor? I was just under the truck and it's a thieves delight with ease of access.
My city has an ongoing rash of cat thefts and that's the last thing I want to deal with.
I wanted your opinions. I was looking at something like this :

Aside from it being softer than steel what would another downside of the aluminum be?I love the idea... Until I saw aluminum.
That's it, for me. More expensive and lighterAside from it being softer than steel what would another downside of the aluminum be?
Appearently the RCI needs to be modified to make it cover the Cat.Honestly though. Anything is better than what Ford is calling a skid plate for the tank.
I am wondering if something like RCI"s transmission skid would deter it at all. Not knowing much about removing a cat besides hearing my friends tale of her cats being gone by the time she got her first drink and the f150 alarm going off immediately.
I have to believe there is a fine fabricator in Canada that would build some.Appearently the RCI needs to be modified to make it cover the Cat.
I'm more hesitant of the RCI version because the oil drain access seems to be smaller than the aluminum one in my first post.
On the side of protecting the transmission alone I may go with one of these options or find something locally that's not going to kill me on shipping and duty.
Yeah I was hoping to find something and will continue to search. We're going back into the office in a month which means parking the truck amidst the explosive homeless population, and I want this to not worry me.I have to believe there is a fine fabricator in Canada that would build some.
If not, I'm considering a trip to Squamish BC in August which would take me by most of our Canadian members.
I saw that, wasn't convinced and adding a should I would see adding extra heat to the unit.no idea if this would be a deterrent. https://www.catstrap.net/
Going old school. I like it.Hrmm, maybe put some Cherry bombs on![]()
Now you are talking! 48v is probably just enough to keep their thieving hands off, and not quite enough to put you on the evening news.Funny enough, I was thinking about using a 48V battery pack for my overlanding stuff. Guess that'll be a go on that project!
I finally got the trans skid back from the shop & installed today. Will it prevent cat theft; NO…I just received my 1/4” aluminum RCI Transmission Skid over the weekend & currently have it at a metal shop getting the 2” sidewalls flattened out for this specific reason.
I spoke with Tech support at RCI & explained what I wanted to do & they said it would be no problem & the skid would still work as intended. When asked why they fold it up on the sides they said it just helps to reinforce even more, but it still will be plenty strong enough flattened out.
I will post some pics when I get it installed.
