Cranbery's Build - "Homelander"

Do you have quick disconnects on the sway bar? It will totally kill the Tremors off-road abilities.
I don't. I did some reading on it before hand because I had that concern, and it doesn't "kill" it imo based on what I found, it does hinder it to an extent though I agree.

Given the majority of my driving it's good, if I went to a purposeful event that i knew was big rocks and dips, I'd pull it off. For most off-road though, and on-road, it'll be fine.

What kind of quick disconnect screw would you use?

I guess, if you're not using it hard. Looks like they gave you good end with the kit. You could use pins and clips instead of bolts. But the more I look at that set up you would have that huge rock catcher behind the rear diff so it would be better to just take it off if you decide to go hard. You can take off just one side for a quick and easy trail ride. It would be cool to modify a flex connect from a jeep. Give you a little better ride and articulation and still gives you the bar.

Interesting, haven't seen that. This sway bar has a reinforcement holding it on the axle also, so i don't know how I'd make those u clamps quick disconnects. I'd just have to take 15 mins and take it off for hard offroading.

Honestly still have a paint backlog of items to do but been super busy, and got COVID this week!

Feel fine thankfully.

I did get the new key cover in from AJT designs. After seeing it in white, I decided not to paint it in the orange. Actually really like it and it matches well the truck color.

Installed the livernois tune yesterday, truck is a whole new animal. It has significantly more pull, and the delay on the accelerator is gone. Tranny is still learning to shift but it's better than stock, noticably.

I didn't see a need for traction bars before, but if i floor it now i get wheel jump every time. Looking to see if i get some alongside my sway bar, but then i don't think the bags will fit. Not sure if i can make the bags and the bars fit with the sway bar.

I love the sway bar after having it though, corners so much better and no sway switching lanes at speed.

All in all, the tune is super worth it. Will be testing it on my trip to NC next week also, supposedly a 2mpg increase in addition to performance.

Awesome! Are the sway bar details earlier in this thread? Interested in that now with how you describe the reduced “roll” or sway while maneuvering

I was pretty set on adding the RAS HD to help with sag; would you recommend the sway bar with the RAS?

I don't have the RAS so i can't really tell you about that. I have considered it, but worried it'll be too stiff with my rear shocks and sway bar already, plus the traction bars if i get those. I'd like bags, but I don't tow enough right now to justify the price tag over something else, so TBD there. I think the RAS helps with sway also, but I'm not sure. The sway bar totally cleared it for me.

I believe the sway bar details are earlier in the thread, it's from hellwig. Easy install, ordered on Amazon.

I ran the Hellwig on my Platy, Coupled with Bilstien 5100’s the rear end was substantially more planted and less “skippy” and body roll was greatly reduced. I’m not sure I’ll move it over to the Tremor though, kinda worried about articulation. Have you noticed any loss Cranbery?

I haven't, but I will test it further in NC as Miami is not really the articulation challenge type of place 😄

Oh come on it's a concrete jungle, I'm sure there's a skate or bike park you could test flex on! 😁

I was just looking at these.

How is it compared to the factory fob?

It looks like its just about as big externally as the Ford one. I was hoping for something thinner, but it looks like the main chip on the back of the board will keep any case thick.

Weight? Without the little boat anchor for the emergency key is it noticeably lighter?

Size comparison I did for another member a little while ago.

Feels lighter than the stock FOB to me.

I like it better. Lighter than stock, slightly thinner. Imo looks cooler. The emergency key is stored in a compartment in the back without the anchor.

Got the holster in today. It's the alien hook and loop, it's basically a velcro pad with a really strong adhesive and the holster sticks onto the pad. It's very sturdy, I had my doubts but it's legit. Perfect for the center console.
Where did you get the holster and how big pistol will it hold?

Took a week off at the end of December so will hopefully be able to paint and install the backlog of parts I have. Look out for an update then!

Captains Log, 02/24/23

- Took the day off work to get progress done on the installing parts taking over my office.

- My truck is 1/3 taken apart while everything is getting painted, took an hour or two to get everything off the truck using install videos and previous experience

- to paint: front grill trim, front emblem, rear emblem, side emblems, interior trim pieces, engine cover trim

- dremeling apart all the pieces to be painted took some time. I cracked one of the emblem pieces but it'll go back together fine - the black inside piece of the emblem can be tricky to get out without cracking it.

- then prepping all those pieces with a light sand, epoxy primer, another sand

- fked up and got a siphon feed spray gun instead of a gravity fed and painting was so much harder. I only got the white on and i have to sand and hit another two coats because I didn't have the right air and fluid pressure on the gun. It was hard with the siphon feed point down also - going to get a gravity feed at home Depot in the AM.

- i got some coats of orange done on all the individual letters with some spraypaint i had left over from touchupdirect, but they need a final with the spray gun tomorrow when I paint orange.

- about 50% of the way, if i finish early I'll install my VAS traction bars

Shout out to my first mate (fiance) for letting me turn our balcony into a paint booth and our living room into a workspace. Shout out to my cat for supervising the whole operation.

Will post (hopefully) final results tomorrow with it installed. My fiance planned a birthday dinner with friends so I'm pretty sure if the trucks not together by then I'm fked

Captains Log Day Two:

- started the day with an upgrade to the compressor, was totally impossible with a 6 gallon.

- then a lot of sanding, and painting, and tacking, and repeating.

- had to get creative with the duct tape so pieces wouldn't fly away with the spray gun.

- decided to leave the interior pieces in carbon fiber because I realized it would be too much orange for my liking if I painted them. They are a nice subtle add now. Be careful if you get these, the odometer one and the sunglass one don't fit the tremor.

- clear coated everything and then started reassembly of the pieces. Overall not difficult, careful not to use too much glue.

- then install on truck. I have to acetone some super glue off my paint carefully tomorrow at the rear emblem but overall easier to put back together than take apart initially to be honest. Patience is key.

- I'd say it's about 80-90% as good as professional done, for 1/3 of the price including buying the compressor.

- very doable if you halfway decently know how to paint, have the right tools, and figure out a space to do it in. Main hard part was being in an apartment, would've been cake in a garage. And I'd have less imperfections in the paint, though overall it looks good in my opinion.

Was a fun project, im happy with the results.

More to come!
