F150 Tremor FORScan

Hello all, I have no previous experience using forscan, just getting into it now. I dont own a windows computer, what are others with macs doing to use forscan. I found this product but not sure if this will work?
thanks

You’re going to be almost entirely out of luck with Mac unless you have an older Intel one to run boot camp and Windows. Same issue currently striking newer cheap laptops due to architecture required for ForScan. I believe some people have made a Mac work but it’s involved and requires some extra purchase software that can usually just buy you an Intel based cheap laptop to use. You really need Windows for this software unfortunately.

I didn't catch the part about it being a non-Windows computer. I don't know if there is a way to run Forscan in Linux either. I'd assume through some sort of emulation or whatever, but I've never tried it.

I made the attempt to get FORScan working on MAC using VMWare. I got it working but each time I needed to use it there was some other issue stopping it from running so it was an adventure each time. Plus all other automotive software runs on windows. So if your hobby is getting things to run on a Mac then it will be fun. If your hobby is cars and trucks it’s better to get a budget laptop that runs windows.

I have the MX+, it works great for a lot of things. But if you are trying to use it on a latop make sure it isn’t connecting to your phone, too much of my life spent figuring that out.

My office is close enough to the truck's location in the garage that I actually use Forscan from my desktop.

the better bluetooth dongles are fine. usb is mostly for CYA so connection doesnt drop mid changes. for shit like flippin bits to turn on bambi mode and the like its less concerning than doing relearns and such.

ive got a slight hobby for making shit work and even i ended up buying a cheaper refurb windows laptop on woot.com. short of having an intel based mac its way easier for everyone to just go buy a cheap intel/amd laptop (snapdragon is a bitch too) or park the truck outside your office window. parallels/bootcamp/etc dont matter if the underlying chip is newer apple silicon and its way too much of a pain in the ass to make it work. linux isnt terrible to get working (wired) but im too lazy of a gray bush/hat to deal with that vs just buying a windows box tbh

How are you doing this? Thought it had to be a physical connection.
It doesn't. My desktop PC has a Bluetooth receiver built into the motherboard. It's close enough that I can pair it with the MX+ BT dongle. It will actually reach out into my drive way too. I have used Forscan on friends vehicles as well.
