Full Screen Apple CarPlay

I wonder if this came already with my ‘23 Tremor as I feel the graphics/text couldn’t possibly be any sharper, crisper, cleaner haha.

Picked up my 2023 on 1/31/2022 and it had full screen CarPlay capability since day one.

It’s the new graphics rendering Ford is going to. It is standard on the Lightning’s I believe. You can enable it on the latest Sync versions.

I borrowed this image from one of our friends over on gen14 forum as it illustrates the difference well.

It adds a lot of shadowing and generally makes everything on the screen look better.

You picked up a 2023 model on January 31st of 2022? Orders weren't even possible for 2023's, until like 2 months ago.

Also if you meant 01/31/23, that's in the future as well.

How much is a square in the pool? I'm gonna guess.... 12/31/22.

1st 23s were made in October.

I was able to get the update to go through yesterday. When trying to update, there was no available updates. I switched off the automatic updates and switched it back on. Once I got home and connected to wifi, it was updated.

I'm not able to get WiFi to my truck when it's parked at home, any ideas on how to get the update without going to th dealer?

It will come OTA (over the air) with the cellular built in, other option it to tether your phone (hotspot) connect truck to cell phone wifi and check for updates

I’m on wifi and in a good cell area. I’ve toggled auto updates off an back on. No dice for me yet… it’s tough seeing the flood of “I got the update” post everywhere.

Turned auto updates off and back on today after work, got home and an hour later got a Ford pass notification that I had power up 3.5.3. Being the mature adult I am I immediately got super excited and showed the wife. She was not entertained and expressed no desire to brave the New England winter mix coming down outside to see if it was indeed “THE update” . Hopped up on adrenaline and hope I stole my teenage son’s slides and sprinted to the truck and….yes! FULL SCREEN CARPLAY!! The wife came to check on me after 20 minutes of admiring it and with tears of joy in my eyes I pointed to the screen… she was not impressed and asked if I was coming back inside tonight…. I snapped a quick photo and reluctantly shuffled back to the house .

I'm right there with you. Stuck on 3.5.2 since October when I bought the truck. I throw a charger on it overnight about twice a week. It's maddening how they are distributed.

This is JUST full screen carplay right? Or are their other benefits to this as well?

It said it was “preparing “ for Alexa integration as well. Not that excited about that one.

i want the full screen carplay. i've also seen some mentions of allowing 2 phones to be connected at the same time. which would be nice for those with a personal phone and a work phone.

Full screen was the big one for me, the wife has it in her Jeep and it always irritated me that we didn’t. The two phones at once thing would be really great as well for when I let the kids DJ!

So it looks like now CarPlay is full screen you can’t have a Ford second window. I liked having Waze open and the bed cam watching the boat in tow. Any of you notice this or have gotten a Ford window to open with CarPlay?

You can minimize CarPlay to be like it was before, not full screen, and then open up the side window. Click the two little arrows in the top left of the CarPlay screen.
