Roadmaster Active Suspension (RAS)

Mo - did you add the vertex installed? I’d be interested in hearing about your setup. I’d prefer to not have a leveling kit installed at all, just go with some combination plus the RAS if it’s needed. I tow so infrequently I’d prefer to not need them, but the stock Tremor rear shocks are very soft and squats so much.
Vertex are in but not installed. I’m hoping to get them put on today but that’s to be determined.

For anyone considering the RAS, today only (July 4, 2022) if you order direct from RAS they have a coupon to save $60 + free shipping. I just ordered a HD set for my Tremor that won't even arrive for another 4 weeks. ActiveSuspension.com

Thanks!

You can now join the ranks of @Yeti and @Cranbery for costing me money...

Just ordered the HD. Hopefully it won't be too rough.

I can confirm that it is not. It actually feels smoother going over bumps and holes.

Got the HD version installed today. 20 minutes my ass. I spent that much time just trying to find wood to make my jack stands reach the frame! Would have helped if I had followed instructions and removed the wheels first.
Gained about 5/8” of rear ride height which was welcomed. I’m now at about 1.5” of rake. Much less sag with the boat on.

Looks like they are doing their job! My HD version is still in the box, sitting in the shop waiting for my Tremor which is somewhere between Dearborn and central Oregon.

I bet I jacked mine up 4 times before I had enough block under my stands to make it work. Definitely the most time consuming part. I actually made some adjustments on mine a few weeks later and left the wheels on to do it and it wasn’t bad. Saved a little time too.

Other than the incredible droop that caused a good 20 minutes in searching for the right wood, I'm literally taking my RAS on/off in around 20 minutes. I need to put them on this week so I'll time it. If I'm feeling particularly inspired, I'll do a Benny Hill video

I can fill and dump my air bags in about 20 seconds.

I can dump them even quicker for you, which is why I won't pay the extra to own a set.

What's your address? Lol JKing.
To bad you are so far away, I would buy another bag to see someone try and pop one. You could shoot it with a gun, but in all my years off-roading and towing I have never been shot at. So that must be why I have such good luck with them. You never see semi truck with springs that have springs bolted on top of them. But they probable would survive a bullet.

I agree they are hard to pop, I've only seen two ever pop, one was offroading and caught a sharp ended stick in it somehow, the other was user error. My point though is it's an investment I'm not willing to make for what I need it for.

My brother-in-law has managed to have 2 blow out, 2 different trucks. I've run them before without issue but decided to run the RAS on the Tremor. If needed, I could swap them over to the wife's 2017 F150 fairly quickly. Be hard to do that with air bags.

Update on the RAS. Doesn’t squat too much towing about 8,500lbs shown here.
I have noticed through all the ‘my truck squats’ posts in FB that a lot of the squat can be accounted for with an improperly balanced trailer.

Aren’t we only supposed to have like 500lbs on the ball?

You should have 10% of your trailer weight on the ball.

K, so in the interest of blowing more cash-
How would those with RAS advise someone who does not currently tow, on whether or not to install? I anticipate that within the next small handful of years, we'll pick up a small hard-sided for the fam, but that is still on the horizon. Meantime, it sounds like the ride quality improves regardless, with normal (mostly road/commute/fam) driving? Additionally, I'm thinking that while I reverse-leveled the truck a bit initially, swapping factory 2.25" rear blocks with 1", but now ready to lift the front a tad with 1.5" pucks, for some 34-35" tires, I may be interested in adding RAS instead of swapping the blocks back out. Thinking that when the pucks go on, the truck will probably sit within about 1" of level, if keeping the 1" rear blocks. I wouldn't mind a tiny bit more rake than that, as I don't infrequently have, say, 200-500 lbs in the bed, but sounds like RAS (probably Standard Duty) would reduce squat a bit when loaded, ultimately requiring less rake anyway? What am I missing here? Sounds like a no-brainer damage to wallet.

Standard duty is more than enough for most, the best thing about it is you can add it or remove it anytime you want. Sure it's around 30 mins to do so but you have the option with it.
