Sync 4 not connected to network: fixes or thoughts?

Well that fix didn’t last long. Jumped in my truck to head home today and connected services not working again. Both times this has happened to me, FordPass shows my last location as my work address. Maybe there is something happening when it connects to my work WiFi? But then why wouldn’t it cause a problem every day? I don’t know. I’ll see if it fixes itself and if it doesn’t by Friday I’ll have my mechanic do the battery fix again but seriously this is inexcusable for a ~$80K truck. Hope ford provides a permanent fix soon. Or at least acknowledges the problem on a grander scale.

Wow, mine quit working today as well. Had been perfect for a couple weeks. I wonder what the hell could be going on.

I am curious if it was super cold today where you’re at. I’ve seen the ford “deep sleep” feature come up a few times as a potential cause to make remote start not work. Maybe there’s some kind of negative interaction there with vehicle connectivity.

Actually it was like a record high for February for my area today haha. Almost 70 degrees.

I've got a 23 that I picked up a few weeks ago. Truck was connected to the internet, Ford Pass worked fine....until a couple days ago. I noticed my Ford Pass app was not connecting and updating my vehicles information. I also kept getting messages in the vehicle saying that it was not connected and that navigation/other features may not be working correctly. I played around with the app, the vehicles settings, uninstalled, re-installed, reset, etc., basically trying everything I could think of or find on forums until contacting ford directly.

When I was on the phone with Ford, they had me go to my vehicle and check settings>connectivity>connected vehicle features.

When after pressing "connected vehicle features" and the screen went back to the prior menu, the customer service rep informed me that my vehicle is suffering a "known issue with the 2023 tremors" that ford engineers are working on. It has something to do with the modem.

He said they expect a fix this month, but does not know how it will get fixed. It may require a trip to the dealership, or downloading something onto a usb - things are obviously difficult when the vehicle cannot connect for over the air updates to begin with.

Pretty annoying and disappointing on a brand new expensive vehicle.....
Just got off the phone with a FordPass rep. Still saying the same thing. It's a known issue with the modem and expecting a fix this month. She did say that they expect it to be an OTA update and I didn't think of it before I got off the phone with her but you are right, without connected services, I am unable to connect to my WiFi networks. I guess I'll just keep doing the battery 'fix' so I can be connected and get the update — whenever that may actually end up being.

Edit: She also said she was able to confirm that she can see my modem is showing it went offline yesterday morning when my problems started to occur. So this is what is happening. The modem is just completely turning off I guess.

Good to know, this happened to me as well at the beginning of the month and cant use anything on the app

If I were you, or anyone else on here needing this info, I would do the battery fix, and keep doing it (if it were to go out again before ford releases the fix), so you can get your modem back up and get the OTA update (if this rep is correct and this ends up being how they fix it).

I've done the battery fix once now and it did not change any of my settings on the touchscreen but did change my settings on my cluster so I had to go in and change that all around to how I like it (gauges, my view, etc).

Thanks for posting this. Battery fix again for me today. Just need to stay on top of it I guess. Ridiculous for such an expensive vehicle.

I missed the boat. What’s the battery fix?

Mentioned in earlier posts, but you unhook one of the terminals (positive or negative; I’ve done positive both times) for like 5 minutes or so and for whatever reason that brings the modem back on. But for me it only lasted for like 10 days then had to do it again. Settings on my touchscreen stayed, but instrument cluster was all set back to default.

Mine started doing this too. The Fordpass Hotline gave me the same feedback. They indicated a software update would be available this month (February) - within the next week.

A few of us have been hearing “this month” from FordPass hotline for the past few weeks. Starting to wonder if that’s going to turn into March, April, and so on haha. Guess we shall see.

Anyone receive the update yet? I have not. Running out of days in February...

I believe I got the update? All of the connected features from Ford Pass started working. ie remote start from the app, locking/unlocking, odometer reading and location of the truck.

Oh really? That's great! I'm not sure. I did the battery fix last week and it hasn't gone out since so I can't say for sure because my stuff has been working. I just didn't see anything on my screen that I had received any updates. Unless we aren't supposed to receive any kind of notification or anything about it? I'm not really sure how these OTA updates work. Previous truck had SYNC 3.

I mean stuff is working again so I am assuming something happened, I did not touch anything nor updated anything manually, it just started working again. I never got anything on my screen at all and never received anything about an update being downloaded/installed or the update being finished.

Well I just lost my connectivity services over night so I guess I didn't get the update. I'll do the battery fix once again and I'm going to call FordPass and see if they did in fact push the update.

Just got off the phone with a FordPass rep again. She informed me that due to the increasing problems with connectivity issues, the original ETA by the end of February has been pushed back and there is currently no ETA from their engineers. So basically, F U. I mean she was very apologetic and nice, but yeah just more disappointment from Ford. She did say that if you already have your FordPass activated (I'm sure we all do) that they are telling them some how, some way it will be pushed OTA even if the modem is down. She's not sure how, but that's what they are telling FordPass. If you do not have FordPass activated, you will have to take it to the dealership. The service number is SSM51389. FordPass seems to be where I can get the best answers, so if anyone is interested to hear it themselves —call 1-800-336-0486.

This is all so dumb. Pulling my battery terminal every week or so just to have my services that I should have. Combine that with no heated steering wheel and other things having been deleted, just brings the level of excitement down a bit for this otherwise really awesome, new truck.

EDIT: Also this appears to be an issue with multiple ‘23 models. I’ve seen other F-150 models and Bronco models so far having this issue.

Hi all, hoping to draw on the collective knowledge here!

On my ‘23 402a, my nav and FordPass both worked fine when I picked it up, and up until about 5 days ago. At that time I got the following on screen prompt, and my on board nav now shows the crossed out cloud as well: View attachment 15091
Once the errors above occurred, none of my FordPass features work (remote start, lock/unlock, vehicle status) and of course the nav is not pulling real time info about traffic or other changes.

Has anyone seen this before? Any advice, thoughts, fixes? I didn’t see any settings I could change that would seem to pertain to the issue. Thanks in advance!
I have the ecact same problem with my ‘23

i have a ‘23 Tremor 402a build bought January 2nd. The exact same problem occurred at 500 miles. I took it to the dealer and he worked on it and it worked for a couple hundred miles and it went out again. I just left my dealer for the 2nd time trying to resolve this issue. He reset the Sync 4 unit but that didn’t work. I sent him this thread and he’s going to contact his Ford engineer contact to see if a fix is available.. it’s March 8, hopefully Ford has a fix by now. This thread was very helpful! I’ll report back on the outcome.

I feel like I should update everyone here, thank you to all for providing a lot of useful information in this thread. At one point my dealership did think there was a fault code related to the telematics system, so that part was replaced,by which I think they meant the modem. Unfortunately, while I have had much longer stretches of the system working, it continues to go out randomly for usually less than a day at a time. Also hopeful for a software fix, which i hope would maybe be more definitive.
