Tonneau Covers

Sounds like putting stuff in tubs may be the answer. I was hoping there was a solution out there that had the water shredding capability of a single piece hard cover and the convenience of a retractable. I guess technically there is and it’s called a Tahoe lol.
Haha....yep. Even canopies leak. It you truly want a waterproof bed, SUV is the way to go.

This under the tonneau cover would work well, just not cheap!

$249 on Amazon -

This is a really nice cover I have owned 2 of them and getting this one tomorrow for my Tremor.

I like how you can see Ford through it when it’s rolled up.

I have the Retrax XR Pro on my truck right now and have been really happy with it. I'm planning on buying the rack for it soon.

If you have a moment, could you post a picture of the inside of the bed when it's rolled up? I want to see how much "space you lose" to the area it rolls into. Thanks in advance.

Also, has any one ever gone with the Ford tonneau covers? Seems they are all just rebranded from somewhere else, but I was considering just ordering the one that would "come with the truck". Not sure though.

Is there specific information on the load rating for these t rails?

I am planning on getting the Powertrax Pro XR. From the research I have done the weight capacity is dependent on the rack system you chose. It is compatible with Yakima, Thule and others. I posted a link below comparing the Yakima options. Looks like their line ranges from 165# to 500# for the HD series.

I've had a factory soft cover on my 2013 FX4 since new. Its still on and still water tight. It keeps my luggage dry when I go on trips. My next truck I'm going again with a factory cover this time with a hard folding cover for better security.

It takes up about 12" of the bed space on my F250. I just got back from a camping trip so the bed is full. Here are a few photos!

I'm planning on adding the rack so I can carry bikes & additional gear above the cover. I just haven't decided on the exact setup yet.

Been running a RetraxPro MX on a 2017 F150 for a little over 4 years and have confirmed with Retrax that I can move it over to the Tremor. Haven’t picked up the new truck yet, so hopefully that proves to be true

I have found the cover to be waterproof in all but two areas- the tailgate and the roller housing. I have not applied the Retrax gasket or the tube drains at the roller, but haven’t noticed enough infiltration to take the time to try.

I do love the locking feature of the latch and being able to stand on top of the cover. The roller housing does take up a measurable amount of room in a short bed, and be cautious of a motorized unit if you live in an a freeze/thaw area- water will get into the roller and freeze, which could burn your motor out. With the manual option a few hard pushes or wacks with a rubber mallet will break the ice.

Thanks for the pictures with the tape measure. Really helps out. Thanks!

Bringing this thing back to life. Since it looks like I’ll actually be getting my order soon I think I’m ready to get a cover on the way before long. Does anyone know where a guy can get a deal on a Retrax?

autoanything.com is saying there is a $150 rebate right now, but their 10% coupon doesn't apply

I had a Bakflip G2 on my '13 F150 supercrew, and it worked great! Had it until 3 weeks ago, and it was pretty much water tight until about the last 6 months. I have the Bakflip F1 on order for my Tremor, and am hopeful that I have same results. I also second the comments regarding a rubber bed mat. Wish my '13 mat would have fit in the new truck, but I have a rough country on order.

Cheers!

Got notification from Realtruck.com yesterday that my bakflip f1 (ordered 11/02/21) will arrive tomorrow (11/14/21). I'll try and take some pictures and provide insights on installation and water tightness. I'm also very hopeful that when it is folded all the way up that it won't cover the 3rd brake light or bed camera.

I really like the BAKflip and I was pretty sure that’s what I wanted but I’ll likely end up driving with the cover open half of the time so I’m probably better off with a Retrax.

Any recommendations for a soft roll cover? I regularly haul dirt bikes so trying to avoid any covers that take up room towards the front of the box.

Thats not soft per se, but it seems like a nice rollup option that takes no bed space.

I just purchased the X4s last night. I was able to get 15% off at Bakflip! Total was under 1000 out the door. Looks to be a great option since it won’t take up almost a foot of the bed like the Retrax does.
