Tremor Rear Shock Options

I’ve got my 5165’s installed. For me ,considering I have 600 miles on truck including 30 with the new Bilsteins they will be the ticket. Yes stiffer but not anywhere radical. Rides nice. I was nervous but I’d go the same route with our limited options for the price. Weighted down and off roading they should excel. We used a zip tie to keep the line away from the leaf spring on driver side. Passenger side seems fine.

Check 2 things there.
1. what will the leafs do at full articulation (compression)
2. will the block and ubolts affect anything during the same

So I have about 800 miles on the 5165s. They are better with weight and are slightly more "super duty" on smaller bumps than the 5160s. The movement is also noticeably more restrictive with weight in the bed but not extreme.

So do you think as of right now this would be the best option, or do you think the 5160 would be a better option just hope not to over extend?

Relevant to shock performance or not when the oem shocks were removed I could easily push them completely compressed . On install of bilseins it took a lot of effort to compress to install. I’ll send more pics tomorrow of final install from home with the lines tucked out of the way.

With consistent weight and moderate off road I would and did go with the 5165s. For road, dirt road and intermittent light off road eibach and for the in between, 5160s. For those that like the more plush feel, definitely fox

Final install pics. I don’t see a problem but this is all new to me. I used to buy a truck and drive it till this forum ruined me.

I think the 5160s will be the best for those who are ok with some extra firmness but want to be able to handle slow, moderate trails. Jumps and woops are out of the question for them, though. The only reason I'm picking the 5160s over the Eibachs (for what if use) are the Eibachs don't compress as much as stock and that's the most likely breakpoint for any shock.

I blame @Yeti and @Cranbery, I've always done some mods, but never this much or this early on! Used to wait till about 60k for suspension mods.

After driving 1,000 miles home from Granger, I swapped in the Vertex rears. The improvement was immense.

While passing through the curvy mountain highways of PA and western MD I noticed the truck roll and jostle a good bit while taking bents at speed limit. Coming from a tuned up mustang 5.0 where we're used to very tight suspension, my wife and I felt like the truck was moving through bends at much higher speeds than we actually were. At first I thought this was something ill get used to when embracing truck life until these vertex shocks went on.

The vertex shocks rides similar to oem at about 2 out of 8. Each click is fairly noticeable. At 6 and up the truck can actually take corners much better than a full size to on the road. Given my last 10 years of pony driving, I found myseld happy at settings 5-6 while my wife preferred 3-4.

Install was easy. I've never installed truck shocks before. With a floor jack and two wrenches (15mm for nut, 18mm for bolt), each shock took 15min or less. The build quality of the vertex 2.5 rears are quite nice. The adjustment knob is powder coated billet aluminum. The adjustments are stiff but offers very clear tactile response. A large white arrow at the base of the resevoir points to the current setting on the knob.

The Eibach is just a tenth or so of an inch to short on the compression length, unless you are constantly hammering it offroad the odds of failure are slim. 90-95% of people will be just fine with them, the average person hardly ever bottoms the shocks out. Now if you plan to Yeti it off-road you might reconsider it, otherwise all will or should be ok.

Well, gee. I guess there is something else I need to do

Should've peeled the sticker off before I tossed the stock shocks. Looks great on the RC.
Did you guys peel the old one or did you order a new one from somewhere?

shop.vinylines.com will make you some new ones. The colors I went with were #1 glossy yellow, #2 glossy silver/grey, #3 matte black. I also tried the glossy orange for #1 but it was not a good match for our emblem colors. The ones in my picture were 8"
