What's new

What are your pet peeves so far

Thanks! The reason I'm asking is I'm in the market for a used late model F150 Tremor. I just want to be sure I'm not going to be sorry...
It's an amazing truck. I think the issue is that for the PRICE everyone, like myself, expects it to be PERFECT. I don't wanna hear a single rattle, squeak, weird noise, I want the infotainment to be PERFECT, all of it. And I don't think that's unreasonable for the price Ford is asking now.

Be sure you get a certified gold pre owned, buy the extended warranty from Grainger, and fully utilize that warranty to its absolute maximum. I plan on making Ford make EVERYTHING PERFECT for the price I am spending on the truck.

That said, damn it's a good truck! I get lots of compliments in parking lots. Rides like a dream. Cowboy Cadillac.

How about the dual exhaust at the bumper not being centered. It looks like every Tremor I see the tailpipes are crooked at the bumper.
Yes, the the tips sit closer to the inside of the truck on both sides, at least it's symmetrical in that sense, but I did notice that. Also, the rear recovery hooks are crooked, but I believe this is by design as well. Not sure why it is designed that way, but maybe an experience off-roader can chime in on that one.

The lack of rear windows auto up down really sucks. Interested if you come up with a fix modifying the switches. I would think that could be fixed by that software, forscan?

I haven't figured out how to set the pick up bed lights to come on automatically when tailgate is open. Its a pain in the ass searching for button in the dark. Anyone know if there is a setting for this?
There's a button. In the bed.

I may have mentioned both of these already in some capacity, but my wireless charger now might as well not even be in the truck. It worked 100% of the time for the first 7-8 months, now I'm lucky if it charges my phone 25% of the time. Also, I hope Ford decides to switch to a touch-based alert system for hands free driving rather than specific pressure/torque or whatever they have now. It's always been annoying, but I finally took my first lengthy road trip, 7+ hours, and I like to drive with one hand on the bottom of the steering wheel on road trips like that, and that thing shouted at me so many times it was extremely frustrating. I'd put both my hands on the wheel and it would still keep shouting at me. My wife almost divorced me over it, no lie (okay maybe a lie). But I suppose that's how most of these companies work and for now it is what it is and things will improve with this technology over the years.

It appears to be in some way related to the sequence and timing of the modules starting up, which is also related to the level of battery charge.

I believe someone quoted a manual or TSB somewhere that said the alternate sounds are used when one of the modules can't reach the other at boot time.

Service guy at the dealer was not at all surprised that I threw in an Optima, he said he's seen lots of crappy batteries from the covid years 21-22.
It's been about 8 months now since I've complained about this same problem making it almost a year of ownership for my 22 Tremor. Now (for me at least) regardless of using remote start or not, it's a 50/50 shot at which startup chime I will get. Every time I press the start button I wonder if I will get the alternate (lower quality, more annoying) chime or the one from the speakers that actually sounds nice. I really don't know what I'm supposed to do to fix this problem, maybe a new battery? My dad had 2017 F250 Platinum that I drove all the time and 99% of the time I would get the correct startup chime. It was only when the truck had sat in accessory mode for a while without running or maybe had less charge in the battery that it would give me the alternate chime.

Also completely unrelated but on that same 2017 truck I was able to see exact numbers for transmission and engine temps but on my 22 Tremor all I can see is the gauges with no numbers or anything? Just an indicator in the form of one of the four small gauges at the top of the cluster. Not like I need it but I feel like all these little problems are just indicators of Ford quality decreasing over the years. Hoping it just had something to do with Covid and parts shortages but it's sad how cars have started to turn out.

Had a 12' F-150 FX4...not the best turning radius, but this truck....does anyone else think the turning radius is horrible? - Rob
Absolutely!! It took me a while to get used to it. I came from a 2017 Ram 1500 to this truck. First time being forced to make a 3 point turn to get out of my backyard in years.

@luke_a you can address the transmission and engine temps Gauge with some ForScan programming.
The IPC Module also seems to have the chimes as well

PROGRAM AT YOUR OWN RISK. . . . just sharing its possible and many hear have done the digital gauges already.

I had a 2018 platinum and it would switch between the 90s chime and the current one. There was no rhyme or reason to it.

my rear passenger tire is unbalanced and driving me bananas
I tried rebalancing mine several times, always had a vibration around 70mph nothing worked to fix that till I replaced the tires all together. No more issues. The first 8k wasn't a problem but then after that I consistently had a vibration around 70mph, they even took the tires off and remounted them then rebalanced still had the issue. Never could figure out the issue. So they were fairly worn and I just replaced them after 45k.

It bugs me but mine is around 40mph. I could probably just live with it tbh. I love the rest of the truck more than my prior $100k bmw.
