What's new

What do you do in your spare time other than plan on a Tremor?

That’s a really nice setup! I have been focused on the low power variable optics most recently — I don’t have anything to reach out like you do. Mainly an ACOG and the new VCOG — I put the VCOG the AR-15A4 for now. Eventually I want the VCOG on the H&K M556A1.

My daughter brought her boyfriend to visit a few weeks ago and I took them both to the range over the weekend they were in town.

I’ve been kicking around the idea of going to gunsmith school — just for my own interest, not a career. There are a few online options I have glanced at.

This winter I am working on building a gun room using some of SecureIt hardware:

I had a unique opportunity when I was getting out of the Army, so I went to trade school style training. 4 Days a week and completely hands on. The Colorado School of Trades. I'm glad I never took it up as a career, it would have ruined my hobby and now I pretty much do all of my own work.

I'll have to look at that VCOG a bit. I was thinking of an Elcan for a build I have going.

I’ve got the same project for myself this winter. Or was planning to until they Tremor fever set in. Here’s what I was looking at using.

Oh yeah, looks very similar! Thanks, I am going to check them out. I think lumber has come back down in price too.

It has. It's actually lower now than it was a year ago. My fiancé is in home building and we are getting ready to break ground on our house build, so we've been watching it closely. Looks like dragging our feet on the build payed off.....big time.

The good news is, finance rates are crazy low!

Very cool! Trijicon makes a very good optic. I have a gen 2 Vortex Razor 1-6 on a 308 bear/brush gun and I’m pretty happy with it. You can get it with a ballistic reticle for a 308 or 223. Might be worth a look for you.

The entire optics scene is new to me. Up until recently I just used iron sights — back in the 90’s (yeah, that sounds weird) the M16A2 didn’t have an adjustable butt stock nor fancy optics ;-), and we qualified at up to 500 yards.

I’ll checkout the Vortex optics for sure. I have a Primary Arms GLx 2X Prism optic that been pretty good for the AK47. Even though it’s only X2, it’s been pretty great to shoot with.

I still need to finger an A2 clone — was thinking about Fulton Armory.

I qualified on the old A2s myself. I've tried a lot of different optics, so if you ever have any questions, let me know.

Have you seen the new Revic BR4 rangefinder that replaced the G7 BR2500?

No I haven't, but that looks awesome! Sig Sauer is doing similar things.

Yes it does. It’s been added to my wish list. I’ve got a G7 and I’ve been pretty happy with it. I’ve never used one of the Sigs but from what I read about them people really like them and they give very accurate ballistic solutions.

I'm likely going to put a Leupold on my next. I've got "an in" for 50% off, so hard not to. And they are local...so supporting business at home.

That is one exceptional “in”. If I had that I’d definitely have myself a Mark 8! My 7mm started life with a VX3 6.5-20. Liked the scope, but wanted exposed turrets. Ended up with a Nightforce ATACR and I’ve become pretty attached. Great scopes are worth the money, but man they suck to buy.

Buy once, cry once, Nightforce makes an exceptional scope. Yes, the Mark 8 is what I'm eyeballing. I have a VX3 on the rifle I posted above. Great for short range hunting, most of my shots are in the 200 yards ish. I'm building my AR10 for < 500 yards.

Forgot, there is more than one meaning. The Ford variety. Waiting on one to be built, and getting ready to reorder it as a 2022 model.
I’ve seen some pretty neat reviews on the Bronco.

If that’s what you end up with let me know what you think of it. Most of my hunting shots are around that 2-300 yard mark as well, but I love shooting steel at 600-1,000.
