What's new

🛠️ What have you done to your F150 Tremor this week?

Installed the f150leds engine bay lighting. The lighting is great. The hood switch doesn’t look like it will hold up and on my ‘24 it won’t work where they say to put it. Atleast I was able to use the same hole and spin it around.

I did this a few weeks back and posted the install video on Youtube. Something to watch out for.....switch was put in the recommended spot, it bent when closing the hood, two days later my battery was dead.. I ditched the switch and put it the light kit on upfitter 6.. no more dead battery. Keep an eye on it.... I love how much light it puts out.. I did mine on the sides rather than front and rear. Nice job!!!

What kind of silicon did you use along the lights themselves? Did your finger heal up?

The silicon was provided by f150leds as a part of the kit. LoL that liner edge caught the top of the finger and sliced just above the nail like a razor blade. Stupid thing wouldn't stop bleeding. 🚑

How was swapping over the airbag?
It was easy. Used a screwdriver to unclip from behind and then unplug it. If you turn the wheel to get the air bag off, straighten it back up before taking off. Or you can do what I did and forget the wheel was turned and put the new one on straight and have to redo it :)

Great, thank you for the reply.

Major pucker moment when righty tighty turned to lefty loosey. Thought I stripped out the oil pan. Once I calmed down and extracted the threads I realized that brass probably couldn't do that.

Still scary though. I'm willing to give them another shot, next oil change!

I’ve read about scares like this with fumotos. I’m guessing you didn’t tighten the bajesus out of it. Just a faulty piece or what?

Not at all, I think it was faulty. I'll give them one chance to redeem themselves!

Took the truck on a Colorado trip with my boys.. white water rafting, castles, Casa Bonita and a cool cabin down Rye, Colorado. Truck goes in for bumper repair tomorrow.. 9 days is the expected repair time.... Had them post Guard!!

SmartCap2.webp

Sooooo, it took some hammering, some bending, some lowering of standards and complete destruction of any expectation of waterproofness, but I reinstalled the SmartCap damaged in the accident. There are missing nuts/bolts, busted weld seams and the seals don't work very well. Some of the truck cap mounting bracket things (that hold the cap on) are pretty mangled, and clearly the paint has seen better days, but it's back on. I need to find a way to hold the sides in toward each other better so the back door closes better (maybe the mounting brackets will work sufficiently well), but it's on. I just hope it stays on.

I was very surprised at how well it actually came back together, considering what it looked like prior. Now I just need to get the brake light rewired (I'll do that when I wire in all the rest of the stuff).

Still need to get a radio installed, suspension bought and installed, new Mickey Thompsons, graphics, lights and a few other details, but I've been really needing the cap to store stuff so hopefully it stays attached.

You may want to flip those weather protector caps on your Smartcap... The way they tell you to do it catches A LOT of snow when you open them... ask me how I know.

That's a really good point. I've had them like this through a couple of winters and usually wipe all the snow off before opening them anyway, but I really should've thought of this sooner! I'll likely do that before next winter!

I believe I got them off of Etsy.
Ohh, I like them! I’ve got the same in a subdued grey, but that orange is hot
