Major pucker moment when righty tighty turned to lefty loosey. Thought I stripped out the oil pan. Once I calmed down and extracted the threads I realized that brass probably couldn't do that.

Still scary though. I'm willing to give them another shot, next oil change!

I'll pass on the Fumoto's after seeing this.

Did you replace the fog lights or is that a film over them?

Replaced them with the Diode Dynamics 2” SSC2 pods. Used the Axis Mounts bracket. You can get everything here:

I went with the sport...should have gone with at least the Pro. I might upgrade it later. Sport isn't bad at all...just wish it was a bit brighter. I absolutely love the backlighting.

Today's project was to add bracing to the janky wrecked SmartCap, which involved making some brackets. I used 1/4" 7075 Aluminum I had on hand. The reason I had to do this was because the welds/folds broke when I was rear-ended, and the truck cap doesn't hold it shape very well- the bottom wants to splay outward, and I can't have that because the rear door doesn't close properly and doesn't, therefore, lock. So, I'm hoping this helps. I used ratchet straps to pull everything as close together as possible before drilling. I should add that, at some point I may replace this with a new truck cap, but figured if I could make my $5000 truck cap live again, it was worth a shot. Next steps are to replace the security screen, fix the brake light (need new wiring harness) and eventually add back all the lights and geegaws I had on the back and top. Once I get a job, I replace the suspension.

Bracket, inside driver's side. The bracket spans two broken welds/folds.

Bracket, inside passenger's side. This bracket only spans one broken weld/fold.

Driver's side exterior. I did drill one more hole at the bottom... and I'll fill the gap with buytl tape. The goo around the washers is also butyl tape. Debating whether to remove the excess...

Passenger side exterior. Also drilled another hole, so there's 4 on this side.

Overall, this did help the base stay together better, so far. The door closes better and the locks work on both sides now.

I also added more brackets to hold the truck cap to the truck bed... some of the ones I had were mangled so I just got another 4 and added them in. We'll see how this holds up!

Installed a Blackvue Elite 9 2-channel dashcam in the Tremor yesterday.

I had an incident a few years back in another truck where another motorist in oncoming traffic veered out of his lane to avoid rear-ending someone and instead ran my family and I off the road. Having a dashcam then totally changed the way his insurance company dealt with me and more than paid for itself. Since then, every vehicle we have owned has gotten a dashcam.

For +12Vdc constant power, I used one of the pass-through upfitter wires that Ford thoughtfully provided under the dash near the glove box.

While I was there, I pulled the 12-volt "cigarette lighter" wiring harness loose behind the dash and used a t-tap to get my +12Vdc switched power lead. This part was tricky and a pain in the ass since there's very little room to work, but it kept me from having to crack open the water-tight fuse box at the passenger front floorboard.

For ground wire, I just used the factory ground point behind the passenger kick panel. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Finally, finally got all the front lights working properly. Still not sure why that left bar light went off but glad to have it back on.

Had the DD SSD max fogs on my previous truck and they were very bright.

The max also comes with an amber backlight

They are SAE compliant and are hooded so you can adjust them and not blind everyone.
Definitely ordering them for the Tremor.

Got a few questions (new here)

I read above that the “Bambi” mode requires Forescan adjustments and can I just do this with the app and my phone/ipad or do I need a dedicated laptop for this? Basically do I need to be hard wired to the truck to perform these mods?

Also,
I have a pitbull and she wants to ride in the new truck but that denim like door covering looks like it won’t like her claws. How durable is the stuff and it is dog proof, or should I look for a covering for it?

Finally got a wheel for my spare 35”. Also installed the transit van cargo d rings in the bed. This should be a no brained since ford really sucks with their tie down placement.
Also got “on board air” by way of a portable air compressor. Plan on running it out of the bed outlet.

For the Transit van D-Rings - do they bolt right in without modification? The Tremor bed bolts have a swell feature on them. I’ve noticed with other (aftermarket) D-rings that guys shave this portion of the bolt off. Maybe with OEM D-rings the solution is more elegant?

So tomorrow, after 21 months and 54,000 miles of wonderful, COMPLETELY troublefree ownership, even with 49,000 of that with the dealer-installed Whipple on my 5.0, I’m finally getting my long-awaited Borla S-Type mid-section exhaust installed. After reading and listening to everything I could find, my only remaining concern was while towing, which I do somewhat often, as I read at least one poster somewhere saying it got somewhat louder, and I know my supercharger definitely gets a bit louder under towing load, but never where it’s even remotely a regrettable issue.

My flowmaster gets just a tad louder when towing my bass boat but still nothing that requires turning the radio up or talking louder. According to a friend who was behind me, he could hear it really well from his position.

So I indeed got my Borla S-Type mid-section exhaust over this past wknd. And it sounds good, just as expected, around town, and down the highway. No drone, sounds great. But you lay into it, and maybe as a result of obviously more air coming in and going out via the supercharger, it gets plenty loud, and a bit louder and raspier than I’d anticipated, but it’s already growing on me and the guys at my office love it. So much that my second-in-command wants the upgrade to his 2-month new company F250 Tremor Godzilla. That factory exhaust is waaaay too quiet whereas the 5.0 Tremor at least has a little rumble. We’ll see, but for now I’m pleased with my Tremor’s new tone.
