402A and Trailer Tow Package-Why?

Whenever I put my vin in I get a basic XL truck. I can select the tremor in the drop down but is the same for everyone else that puts their vin in? Have you mind that my truck is scheduled to be built the week of Feb 14th.

No, I get my exact truck, of course it's built and delivered, that may make a difference

I get same as you, mine is scheduled to be built 2/21.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised. Ordered on the 14th and got the email that it is scheduled to be built the week of 2/21 on 12/17.
Cool. I’m exactly a week behind you actually, so maybe delayed a bit for the holidays, I think they shut down for a week or two.

This here is quite interesting. Same 10,900lb trailer weight. On the 400A w/o the Trailer Tow package, does it have the Trailer Tech package or anything else?
I wonder if this will be updated on the build site for ‘22. But I guess I’ve ordered a 22 and am paying extra for it….

It does not. I think the decoder is showing the specs for the Tremor in general and not specific trucks. It's not showing any details to differentiate one VIN from another. It has MSRP of both trucks at 49k, in reality one is 51k and the other is around 70k.

It was suggested that it could be because they were just built, but I also tried VINs from used 2021 Tremors and got the same specs for all of them. The one from @flagman is the only one I've seen that appears to show details for a specific vehicle.

Mine is the same as the other two. Generic.

This is what I've been looking for. This is from the hero card. It clearly states to get the maximum tow rating, you do need the trailer tow package.
Now whether or not Ford is trying to pull a fast one is a personal decision.

If it dries out tomorrow, I'll grab pics of the different parts that could be different.

Thank you for posting that.
Normally that would be pretty clear cut...if there wasn’t the other documentation (I cited above a few times with the pic from the chart) that showed packages 17T, 53A, and 53B all as ‘Trailer Tow Packages’.
The inconsistency in their phrasing / terminology erodes confidence. Of course this hero card also says a 4.10:1 axle ratio is available...and a Torsen diff as a separate thing...which isn’t technically right either.
Sheesh....

Is it possible the context of the above is more about the 5K weight than the max tow capacity? I wonder what Ford's motivation is for avoiding actual and direct information.

So to tow over 5000, you need one of those packages (17T included) but that does not mean that you can tow 10900, @Yeti Hero card is pretty specific that you need Trailer Tow to be able to tow the maximum weight. This is clear as mud.

Yeah, I didn’t articulate my point clearly. The hero card says ‘Requires Trailer Tow Package’ but it doesn’t specify WHICH trailer tow package. Some of the other Ford literature lists ALL the tow-related packages as ‘Trailer Tow Packages’ - see one of my previous posts.
But, some literature specifically calls out ‘53A’ - the actual ‘Trailer Tow Package’.
I’m still in the mindset of ‘the truck will likely tow what I need just fine...even over 7000lbs...regardless of the official tow rating’. I will manage sag if I need to with a leaf or some air bags. I’ll manage sway if I need to (but highly doubt I will) with an upgraded sway bar. There’s no sticker on any truck saying what it’s actual tow capacity is. There’s enough confusion, misinformation, and contradiction that if a guy is worried about liability of some sort, I think Ford is just as culpable here or more as us diligent owners who are TRYING to figure it out.

Ah, got ya. I guess I was reading "Trailer tow package" as the exact name of the option in the B&C not a general use term.

Not sure I understand still. In the Hero card it says “requires Trailer Tow package”. Capital T’s(53A)

I see that as different than the other “tow packages” (17T).

That's how I interpreted it as well. Would be nice for some official clarification.
