Halolifts Coilover - Group Buy Info in First Post!

@Bannerman you are correct; I missed a number - I am looking at 285/75/r18 ridge grapplers; those are showing 35.08” on discount tire website

Thank you for the correction; big difference

To clarify- On the front you installed the halo lifts coil over @ standard 2.5” configuration and were able to put 285/70/r18 ridge grapplers (35.08” actual tire size) with no rubbing/trimming needed?
The tires are just short of 34" and have a +1mm offset. No trimming or rubbing. If I'm on a trail and at full lock, I might rub slightly on the back crash bar. That hasn't happened but, looks like it may be possible. You could probably run 295/70/18 with this offset with no problem on the road but, would likely rub off road.

Came across these through a FB post. I know we've beat the coilover discussion to death but I did a quick search and couldn't find where Halolift was discussed.

Follow the link and at the top of the description it says "Yes this will fit your Tremor".

Thoughts? Has anyone use this brand before?

I think @Larry Clark used the coilovers with Icon UCA's on his build. EDIT: He did not. It was another user that someone mentions later in this thread.

Hey guys, I had the Halo Lifts Mountain Package installed on my Tremor few weeks ago. I'm loving the ride and look! The truck feels less floaty and more planted to the road. I also had the truck on some forestry roads and it handled perfectly. You can feel the quality of the kit.

I kept the truck at stock height in the rear and lifted it 1.5" in the front (You could go as high as 2” above factory Tremor height). This allowed me to fit 285/70/18 with a +1 offset, with no rubbing. With the proper offset, you could run a bigger tire. I'll provide some insight about the install and the minor differences we found between the standard F150 factory suspension and that of the Tremor. I will likely repeat some things Kevin and others have already touched on.

Firstly, the Tremor shocks and struts provide about 1" of lift in comparison to the standard F150 so, in my case, we adjusted the Halo coil overs to 2.5" of lift which only really gave me about 1.5" on the Tremor. Kevin also installed the SPC UCAs and Caster/Camber kit, both of which help with the geometry of the front suspension.

In the rear, the Halo shock is right about 24" with the truck on the ground and 29" at full droop. You can get a 2.5" block from Halo, which is .25" taller than the factory Tremor leaf blocks. The Tremor bump stops are about .5", or less, taller than the standard.

As far as Halo Lifts goes, I have been very impressed with and grateful for the customer service. I spent 6 months or so looking for a "compatible" setup for the Tremor. This kit fits the bill. Kevin and his wife are not close friends of mine so, I'm giving you an unbiased opinion based on my experience. We knew each other from a local F150 group and I liked the idea of spending my money with a smaller but reputable outfit. They provide a quality product that performs as well as or better than the big names we've all heard of. Like others have mentioned on this thread, they are closely affiliated with Elka, which should tell you all you need to know. I was at their shop today and they have a bunch of Mountain Packages ready to ship.
@DC8 thanks for this great summary and pictures!

Follow-up questions:

Front
As you are fitting a 33.98" tire now and still have about 0.5" higher adjustment left on the coil over, it sounds like a 34.5" tire, especially with a +18 offset should fit without much issue. Is this fair to say?

Rear
You stated the factory Tremor block is 2.25" and Halo has a 2.5" available. As the stock Tremor shock compresses to 18.1" and the Halolift compresses to 18.25", is it accurate to say we need to either go with a 2.5" block, or add a spacer to the bump stop to keep from bottoming out the shock?

Thanks, appreciate the help!

For the front, I do think it is fair to say you could fit that size tire.

For the rear, I think the bigger block or adding a bump stop spacer would be beneficial if you’re going to be off-road.

Are Halolifts coil overs progressive or digressive? Do we know how much lift we’ll get out of them at say mid setting without all the preload? Thanks Y’all!
Hello there!

HaloLifts Coilovers and rear shocks are progressive valving.

You would get about 1.5's just pulling them out of the box.

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

I am planning on staying with the stock tires, I just want a little bit less rake, even if it still has some rake I’m fine with that. What do you think the best set up is for that? Just the coilovers, coilovers w/ new UPC, or do I still need the rear blocks?

Thanks!
Hello there!

I would recommend Coilovers and UCAs. I would stick with your stock rear block. No need to change them.

Kevin welcome to the forum and thank you for joining! I can safely say it's been a pleasure to deal with the suppliers that have joined and not only share their knowledge with all of us but display genuine passion for these trucks and their products on them. Still doing some research, but your Halolifts package is really looking good!
Hello there!

Thank you!! I appreciate that. I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you and to learn how forums work!

Thanks again,
Kevin

@halo.f150 - I see that you also have Elka kits on your website. What is the difference between the Elka IFP 2.0 kit versus the Halolifts 2.0 Boss kit?

Do you revalve the elka shocks or anything else to differentiate between the kits?
Thanks!

Hello there!

They are pretty much identical but there was some small changes made. I just can't remember what they were. But both kits are amazing and were put together for the end user in mind. We use the best products we can get our hands on to manufacture.
Elka has been amazing to work with and I believe it was the right move to go to them from Eibach. Nothing wrong with Eibach, I believe Elka has taken care of us and our customers better.

Thanks,
Kevin

Way back in the day when quads were cool, I tested prototype shocks for Suzuki Quad Racers for them. Super cool guys even back then. They only did race quads shocks and snowmobile shock. Now they do it all, love their stuff.

Took some measurements tonight to see what kind of rubbing issues I might have going with the Halolift coilovers from the Procomp 2.5".

Clearance at bumper is about 5/8"

Clearance at the crash bar is about 5/8". Held the tape vertical to show what it would look like if I dropped it down a 1/2" or so.

Clearance at the rear of the wheel well is about 5/8"

I think if I drop more than 1/2" I will definitely need to trim the crash bars and hopefully not get into the front bumper. May need to modify the black plastic on the rear fender as well.

I believe I will need to run the coilovers at the highest setting to avoid any chance of rubbing and then will probably still have to trim on the crash bars.

Still going to make the move just to hopefully gain an improvement in ride quality and gain back some of the lost geometry with the UCA's.

Has anybody else ordered these yet? Looking for comparable measurements from the AS 2.5 kit. I've seemed to have handcuffed myself a bit with my tire & wheel setup. Just wanna make sure everything fits nicely.

I'm strongly considering ordering just the front coilovers. I have too much lift now with the 2.0 autospring spacers, netted me 2.75" for some reason. But it aligned and drives fine so I can't really see the need for the new UCAs.

I don't want shorter rear shocks so I may stick with the stock ones for now, did we ever get extended/compressed measurements compared to stock? I have 1/2" of rake with just my empty bed (and the Diamondback HD). I'd like to get that up to 2" of rake.

That's wierd, I have the 2.5 auto spring and have at least 1.5" of rake.

I've emailed back and forth with the AS guy, he said some Tremors just get more out of the spacers, which was not a satisfactory answer to me and also just doesnt make sense.

Sounds to me like you might of received a 2.5" kit miss packaged as the 2" kit. Regardless if you switch to the halos they don't provide any offset like the AS kits do... so if you end up making the switch it may be in your best interest to purchase the UCA's as well. Just a thought.

Stock: 30.5" extended and 18.1" compressed.
Halolift: 29.75 extednded and 18.25" compressed.

Because the Halolift shock will bottom out before the truck's factory bump stop, you may want to go with a spacer for the bump stop or their 2.5" block so you don't damage the shock at full compression.
