What's new

Interesting thread on intercooler.

Alright, I just ordered an intercooler and went with the CVF. Research and conversations with the companies indicated it was on par with the best of them. It is also larger so hopefully it will outperform others. There doesn't seem to be much difference other than the names behind them (and size obviously).

The new CVF design is bigger still and also has an oil drain on the bottom. CVF also was the cheapest and they eat the tax and have free shipping. While talking to them, the forum was brought up, they were kind enough to create a discount code for me that they said to share here (Blanco); they just used my truck IG name lol. This gave me another 5% off ($712.50 delivered).

So, given all of that, with the BOV and this intercooler I spent just over a grand.

If you go to stage 3 motorsports they have 15% off the BOV today ($320.62 delivered).

I will do as good of a review as I can on both when they get in, but obviously many already exist.

Ummm perhaps I don't understand what you mean....vaporware, generally speaking, is something that is said to be made but isn't actually made. Livernois is indeed real. It's actually a pretty good tune from my understanding without going to a shop and having it custom done. It can also be mapped back to stock if needed with the same software. Also, it is undetectable if done correctly so no voided warranty lol

Ford actually works with them a good bit and has allowed them access to a lot that makes theirs stand out compared to other generic tunes. In my research, this is the best we can get so far and probably the best you'll get without going to and working with a specialized shop.
Effectively vaporware due to chip shortage is all I meant. It's backordered according to their site every time I've checked.

If they're actually shipping MY21+ EB tunes then I'll start putting my shopping list together lol

Ah I see. Then you wouldn't be entirely wrong. When I talked to them last they said about 9 weeks out, but they were steadily making and shipping them. Like I said though, these guys are the best you can get without a custom dyno tune. Even more, they're the only EB tune that will let you remap to stock and be untraceable by a dealership due to how much access Ford has given them.

Long story short, imo, your list would be incomplete without this tune if you really want one that's not a piggyback.

That's been my understanding and why I've been trying to wait out the backorder. Honestly I had just assumed that meant no shipments were occurring but now that you've told me this...

Sorry for thread derailing everyone.

Sorry for thread derailing everyone.
It's definitely more of a lead time than an actual backorder from what they've said, and they told me orders are shipping. Just taking longer. These guys don't put out bs, they're a great company with fantastic support and products. I will 100% order their tune. I simply want all/most of my mods done to the truck before I order is all; that way I don't have to re-flash it everytime it changes.

OK I am half in. Ordered the Turbosmart. So many great IC options. I was also thinking about the weight increase too. Deciding between the Mishimoto and COBB? May come down to shipping cost.

It definitely has a very small trade off in weight. But the increased performance is absolutely worth it. My big thing was that the mishimoto didn't have a drain plug in the bottom of it, so oil would just sit there. Granted, it's not a ton of oil build up, over time it could be annoying to flush.

I tow/haul a good bit and want to go 600+HP, so I wanted the biggest intercooler I could get (towing will cause heat soak much faster). And the CVF just had more to offer.

I don't think anything I listed would be bad, but the AMS having the BOV on the bottom turned me off of it so it would be my only retracted recommendation. You really can't go wrong as long as you get something lol

Man I thought the Mishimoto did have that drain. I have reading so much and watching installs I am probably just mixing up all the information at this point lol. Thanks for the heads up. I will continue to read up on all of these before pulling the trigger. Thanks again.

Maybe the newer one does and I mixed them up. At this point I've looked at so much it's hard to tell lol.

New one looks like it has it, which is pushing me towards it. I wish it had the logo though.

Drilling the drain isn't the same, you'd have to have someone weld a piece like this on so you could plug it for it to be right.

Whipple or Cobb for me if and or when I do it.

Yep, just looked it up, new one does for sure.

I wish I could find supporting data for the cooling Temps on all others. All I was able to really find was data on the cvf, which is what swayed me. The others should be similar though. The new cvf is rough 5-10% larger than the others, so whatever that difference maths out to from this.

The Cobb for sure doesn't have a drain, but is made to be drilled.

Are you going with the Titan or Titan 2?

fuck it I’m ordering theirs. Full bolt on good to 1000hp. Gotta figure if anyone has tested the shit out of their hardware it’s them

Probably not a bad product, as all their stuff is good. But having a drain is a big deal, at least to me, and theirs doesn't. Many people never clean them, but I've seen issues and don't want to take the chance of letting condensation or oil build up. It's all too easy to unscrew the drain at every oil change and be done.
I spent way too much money on the truck so I'll take way too good care of it lol

As someone too lazy to keep on top of that I’m thrilled to hear it has no downsides for me lol

Now I just need to find some catted downpipes and figure out if supply side plumbing is worth the upgrade and I’ll hopefully have Pandora’s box emptied enough to get the lid back on.
