In my opinion, SXM sounds best in the car when streaming it via the app or USB.

Some channels specifically on SXM are much lower quality than others. SXM has always done this to save data on the less popular feeds

That's because SXM in general sounds horrible. It's a fault of SXM because they have to use very low bitrate streams due to limited satellite bandwidth. The more popular channels do get more BW and therefore sound considerably better though.
 
Need to verify my audio upgrade, but the latest push of iOS has really shit the bed. I would have 3-5 connection issues a month...maybe. Now every damn time i get in my truck the map won't work unless the phone is unlocked, and Pandora just won't sync up. Very interesting. Made sure all the Apps updated post iOS etc. All via BlueTooth, maybe going back to a short direct plug and see if that helps. - Rob
 
Update. iOS all updated...Apps all up to date. I have the audio update. All of this is via BlueTooth. I think I will run it back to the USB-C connection again....so much for the carefree days of just tossing it in the consol. At least for now. Today has just been a complete soup sandwich. - Rob

Keep us posted sir, sorry about the issues. I don't have an Iphone but I know folks that do and I don't think they have connection issues. Did you try to "forget the connection/unhook" the phone and rehook in bluetooth?
 
Still no update. I did get a loud POP followed by digital static and no audio on a startup the other day. Had to power down the truck to get audio back. The infotainment is a mess on this otherwise great truck

How does ford actually push out these updates? Is it by model year? Build date? Random unknowns?
Mine is 21 just curious if I can figure out when it will push. Seems like the newer models get it first.

Had anyone with an early build 21' 402a got the update ?

Updates are “usually” pushed out by VIN# but at times, this can vary.

2022 402A no update. You think the update is done in order. Guess not. Last update was the power one about the battery
 
Is there a specific number associated with this update? I checked mine and I have the 10.2 update, and it’s saying I’m up to date. I don’t know if that’s with or without this one included?

With how screwed up my infotainment is and the battery constantly draining, I don't think I'll ever get updated. Gonna demand a new unit next time I'm at the dealer.
 
Well my truck is going to the dealer for brake pads tomorrow (squeak and crunch at 40k miles.... PO must not have known how to coast ffs) and im going to instruct them to check for all software updates and find out why my infotainment sucks so bad, drains the battery, freezes, reboots, etc.
 
At the dealer now. Service advisor pulled up a TSB that says a BIG sync 4 update is coming that will require me leaving the truck for a day or two while they run the update. They're checking for any updates while it's in here though but they said they've heard this a lot from these years and it's a known issue. (Battery drains, reboots, freezes, not updating, etc)

We shall see.


SSM 53088 Vehicles Equipped With SYNC4 - Intermittent Symptoms After All Available Software Updates Performed - Awareness Of Solutions Being Developed
Some vehicles equipped with SYNC4 may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms after all currently available accessory protocol interface module (APIM) software updates have been performed.
- General system performance, stability, and intermittent system reboots.
- Intermittent Wireless CarPlay or Android Auto function.
- Phone related concerns with intermittent No Audio or Static.
- Navigation/global positioning system (GPS) related concerns through CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Alexa function consistency and stability.

These symptoms may be due to the software in the APIM. Replacing the APIM will not resolve these symptoms for the customer. Before returning the vehicle to the customer, review the procedures within Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 and ensure the latest APIM software is installed. Refer to General Service Bulletin (GSB) 23-7146 for help determining the latest available level of software.

IMPORTANT: some module software updates will only display as available on Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) after prerequisite modules areupdated. This may require the technician to update certain modules multiple times during the service visit, before the latest APIM software is accessible in FDRS.

If symptoms continue after latest APIM software has been installed, inform customers that Ford is working on additional software enhancements which are expected to be delivered over-the-air (OTA) by late Q4 2024 on F-150, F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E, Mustang, Escape, Corsair, Expedition, Navigator, Bronco, Mustang, and 2023-2024 F-Super Duty. Software will update automatically if vehicle connectivity is enabled in the vehicle's settings. Schedule a service visit for customers who have disabled vehicle connectivity or who report that they did not receive the update in late Q4 2024. Monitor OASIS for additional information.
