Why Tremor not Raptor (your reason)?

Suspension difference - enjoy the Tremor softer ride on the highway. I have the coyote 5L with supercharger so the power is there along with a nice ride. Do not do so much off road or towing any more as I sold my Farm in 2025.
are you able to keep you foot out of the supercharger? if i add one i suspect i might go through a set of tires pretty quick. lol

My F4X build, 401A Tremor build, and base Raptor build were all 5k apart. I use a broker and did not have any dealer markups. My reasons for choosing Tremor instead of F4X or Raptor knowing I was going to dump money into it anyways was

  • 0% Financing offered on F150's that were not the Raptor was HUGE
  • The V8 was a must for me. Long-term reliability, simplicity, sound, and the fact that mechanics are very familiar with the Coyote anywhere you go and parts are readily available.
  • The 401A Tremor for 5k above a well spec'd F4X gave me a lot more in terms of immediate enjoyment right off the lot.
  • Larger Tow/Haul capacity than Raptor. The long-term plan for the truck was to haul campers long distance and a UTV on the back
People have mentioned the width of the raptor and that's definitely a thing. The F150 is already wider than I'm used to coming from a 392 Wrangler but you get used to it after a few weeks either way so I didn't really factor this in.

The biggest thing I sacrificed going with the tremor vs raptor was that amazing Green color. I'll be adding a Torsen differential before the end of the year, so I wasn't about to pay an additional 11k on the tremor for that, and the 0% I got on the Tremor that I wouldn't have got on the Raptor didn't outweight other pro's from a Raptor, especially since the Raptor R with the V8 I wanted would've been above $135k out the door. I got my 25' 401A Tremor in SoCal for $67k MSRP.

The Raptor green is an amazing color. you can always get a wrap for that Tremor in that green color.

100% but I'll be going with Matte/Frosted PPF since my truck see's a lot of off-road time in the California alpines it's already rocking pinstriping from just owning the truck 3 weeks now lol. I'm worried if I use standard wrap it'll end up getting peeled/scratched off from some of the tougher brush, especially since a lot of the land has at some point burned, leaving really dry and tough bushes/sticks.

pinstripes already!? dang. you need one of these- search on Amazon.

Buying a Raptor would have been within $10k of my Tremor, but really it would have then cost me way more to get a SD for towing/farm work. I've had my 3.5 Tremor going 70+ across a empty soybean field, and got a little air off the railroad track crossing the other day, so it works well enough for me. To be fair though, my 1991 2x4 ranger could get air off the railroad track crossing when I was in high school too, just had to try harder. :ROFLMAO:

I was going to buy a Raptor until I found out the Tremor was being introduced. Here's why I chose the Tremor:
  1. Width. The Raptor is really wide.
  2. Image. I love the Raptor, but it seems to be a truck that a lot of men buy for their wife to drive. At a glance, the Tremor looks like a normal F-150.
  3. Off-road capability. That's what I was mainly looking for and while both deliver it, the Tremor does while still looking like a normal truck.
  4. Utility. I actually haul stuff in the bed of my truck and tow a trailer. Tremor does both better.
  5. Price. I'm qualified to buy on Ford's X-Plan. The Tremor is on the list, so no-hassle discount buying. The Raptor is NOT on the list. (This was #1 on my priority list.)
  6. Premium fuel. I live someplace where gas is not always easy to find, so you take what you get. The Tremor doesn't specify premium fuel but the Raptor does.
Essentially, the Tremor gave me everything I needed in an everyday truck. I still think the Raptor is cool; I'd still like to have one, but the Tremor checks the boxes.

Yes, that Shelter Green really looks good on the Raptor and it’s definitely a very unique color.

I planned to get a Raptor. After multiple test drives and doing detailed comparison between 3.5s, I had to go with Tremor.
1. Handling: Raptor felt soft on corners. Very un-truck-like. I'm sure it was just the advanced offroad suspension but I didn't like it.
2. Towing capacity: Raptor vs. Tremor was a deal breaker based on the RV we planned to get. Raptor wouldn't be able to do it.

Utility, nearly $20k price difference at the time, and nowhere nearby to make use of its capabilities. The width is a real issue on the 2 lane roads around here as well. Would have certainly made a fun daily driver though.

I would've been more inclined to order an F250 Tremor at Granger pricing if their production schedule wasn't over a year at the time.

Towing capacity was the deciding factor for me. I tow an 18ft 6k lb landscaping trailer for a living. Looked at a Tremor, Raptor and a Lariat 6.7. The 6.7 would have probably been the best choice, but when I found my 402a for $66k it kinda sealed the deal on that. Have since upgraded to E rated tires and installed a level and RAS HD kit and it’s treated me great for 2 years.

I owned a 2014 Raptor SVT with the 6.2 l. I loved it. About 220k I felt the urge for a new truck. I do not off road but chase on some rough back roads. The Raptor needed to have the shocks rebuilt or replaced every 50-75 k miles. Rebuilt about $1700 new over 3k. The 3rd gen Raptor is a much more expensive suspension system.

I could not afford the Raptor R to get the V8, after testing the Tremor on 5.0 and 3.5 I just love the V8 sound. My Tremor handles and rides much nicer than the Raptor, I love it and many differences between 2014 and 2025 models. So for me it came down to cost of the truck and suspension replacement costs.

Show me what our Tremors can't do that Raptors can once we put king suspension on them! I can't prove it, but after spending the money I'm certainly going to argue I can do it better than them now and more, and for less.

If Raptors came from the factory with Portals that would be another story :D

Did you click your heels while you said that? If not, won't come true.

No, but I did make myself write it on the chalkboard 100 times as penance for the evil thoughts I was starting to have about what that money would do for my truck. This forum is REALLY bad for my financial discipline . . .

Less $$, off road capabilities are awesome, and no dunes around and in my future plus I get great comments and interest constantly, literally about an hour ago had a cop walk up and say "I'm just checking out your truck I'm looking to buy a new one and yours is awesome looking" so I gave him the tour 😁
Might be a new "5.0" member in here soon 🤣👍

Because I wanted the V8 but the Raptor R is outside my budget. Ford should really think about offering the 5.2 or even the 6.8/7.3 as an option imo
