Yeah they totally shafted us with cheap tires on an expensive truck. Don’t feel bad, we were all shocked when we discovered it.

In my opinion Ford not only did this to save cost, but to help boost the MPG numbers that they advertise on this truck. The OEM tires weigh 46 lbs. The E rated Generals weigh 61 lbs. Running a tire this heavy would result in a noticeable drop in fuel economy and performance too (google rotational inertia). My Tremor will be my daily driver so MPG will be important to me. When I look at replacement tires, I’ll be looking at the tire weight for sure. Don’t get me wrong…I agree that Ford is putting the wrong tires on these trucks.

I get both sides and I've concerned myself as such during tire research, Dueler A/T Revo 3 is the lightest 295/70r18 I've found at 54lbs (also an old favorite from running the original AT Revo on my Xterra). And, it's E rated.

Just throwing this out there, the general grabber at2 was my favorite tire, the atx replaces that in their line up, I've ran about every tire under the sun and the two that I have gotten the best traction and wear out of have been the generals and falken wildpeak at3w, on road, offroad, snow, ice, mud, and wet roads. The BFG's we're all good at first but would start getting slippery on wet roads after a while. I agree though the E rated would have been a better choice.

So quick question, my tires are filled with Nitrogen, so by topping them off with regular compressed air am I screwing up the ratio? I'm only at 34psi and wanted to top them off.

Can anyone confirm if a 295/70/18 will fit without any problems or rubbing on the factory rims without a level?

Regular air will expand more with heat, so you will see PSI increase more as the tires heat up. Personally dealing with nitrogen is just a PITA. I just deal with the average 3 PSI increase with normal air. Besides...pretty much impossible to air up and down tires with nitrogen out in the field 4-wheeling.

Hrmm, not sure what I should do now haha.

Regular air is 78% Nitrogen so an air top off isn’t going to have a huge effect on the overall percentage

I only just saw this thread and read through it. I had no idea they made non E rated General Grabbers. I was going to run these and see if I liked them but I don't want a SL tire...that's some shit. :(

I would prefer a tire with an "E" rating over the tires being offered as stock on the Tremor. Although I would assume a stiffer ride and perhaps a small sacrifice in fuel economy, the higher load rated tire should be better for hauling and towing. Just my two cents........

Anyone? Anyone? I intend to ditch the grabbers and would like to go with a bigger tire if it’s possible.

I personally like D rated tires. Often the same Max Load as the E, but softer sidewalls for a more comfortable ride. Not to mention that a softer sidewall also gives better traction. Take a look at these Duratracs for example. I run the 315/70R17 on my Raptor and can't for the life of me figure out why they put 18's on the Tremor when tire choices and performance is so much better for 17's.

Will the stock D rated tires hold up against mountain trails filled with sharp rocks and such?
