What's new

New ICON F150 3inch Suspension

Went from the icon 2.5’s with full adjustability to the halo 2.0’s but going full elka 2.5”s with DSC on my next truck. Not saying icons were bad just not the best for a mostly pavement queen maybe because I had them cranked up a bit to get some lift out of them, they only provided just over an inch of lift out of the box. I found them to be a bit stiff/harsh cruising the bumpy roads even with them on the softest setting. Don’t get me wrong put them on one of the stiffer settings and you can fly thru anything but still a stiffer feeling. The halos on the other hand have more of floaty planted feeling just a smoother overall ride but that could be from bringing them down 8 turns or so because these provide about 3” or so out of the box ,also a half inch longer than the icons. I will say hi speed they don’t seem to handle quite as good as the icons maybe because they are a 2.0 shock. I rode in a 2.5 elka equipped truck and ithey were just as smooth as the 2.0 but they had full high speed and low speed adjustments so you could really dial them in. I almost didn’t go with the halos because of the 700 lb spring in fear of a stiff ride but I guess with the proper valving and less preload compared to a icon 600 spring it works out.

Check out the shock comparison I posted in the build resources that @Yeti made, they really liked the Elkas 2.5, they also stated that the spring weight they used of 700lbs was equivalent to most 600lb spring rates from other manufacturers.

Does Halo Lift not make a 2.5 remote res coilover?

I don't remember seeing one. They may, though.
Elka does so I'm sure if you went through halolift they could get that setup for you.

So i was just stalking Icon's site and they now have two different options for 2021+ F150s in the 2.5" diameter shocks
0-2.75"
2.75-3.5" with their "Pro" UCA

Just speculation here - but I'm willing to bet that the higher lift version will be rolled out as being "approved" for our Tremors....

I am going to be the guinea pig for the ICON bluecruise Tremor approved performance level. I'm hoping the engineer will go with my wishes of the F150 stage 5 - 2.75-3.50 kit as I want to run the front around 2.8 without much preload. Stay tuned I will be giving it to them mid October.

you've talked to them and they are going to use you, or you are hoping to be used by them? there is already a guy on the facebook group that was supposed to have his truck in with them last week or sometime very soon.

Look what supposedly just went out to icon dealers!

That was probably me. But I'm sure there could be another as well. Yes I know the owner and we just agreed on bringing in my 402a after they wrap up 2023 SEMA SHOW. If it's the same background photo on FB as this profile picture it was me.

it is you!

but seems like they already have a kit developed based on the email sent out today that i shared above. i guess you will just be the first? 🤷‍♂️

Well this is certainly exciting. I still can't find much info/reviews on the CDEV shocks from Icon - but that is such a cool concept if it actually works

im not sure theyve started shipping the CDEV kits yet. at least the F150 ones on the site say shipping soon.

but yea, i definitely don't need CDEV, but i WANT it. if it works....haha

Yes I saw that on their site and the truck with the parts as well. I'm thinking that is a 400 or a 401a without bluecruise..mine is a 402a and part of the project was to make absolutely certain of OEM compliance with bluecruise a priority for their product.

Just one more thing I don't really NEED to spend my money on

Great to see another option for the Tremor. What I’m most interested in is the claimed 20% increase in front wheel travel. That would put us at or just over 11 inches of travel in the front. That is getting within spitting distance of a gen 1 raptor (12.1 inches)

This probably limits the tire size a bit that will fit. Icon says 34 inches on their website. I think that’s a worthy trade.

Finally!!
Bad news for me is that I already have their "normal" F150 2.5 CDCV rear shocks which have a different part number than the rears in this kit.

This certainly perks my interest. I think stage 3 may be a nice set it and forget option. I have had adjustable suspension in the past and never desired to mess with it so stage 4 and 5 are of no interest to me.

I hope they'll sell just the rear shocks. I wonder if the compressed and extended measurements are still trade secrets.
