Stock wheels or aftermarket. Can’t decide

After reading the comments and looking at the pictures, it may be wiser, for me, to go with a positive offset to allow for a little more clearance.

The Bead Grip wheels I'm looking at are 17x8.5 but depending on specific model, offsets are 0 and +25. An 18x9 would be +18.

Based on @Brianvic pictures of a +20, I think a +25 would still be pretty flush with the fender.

Sound reasonable?

If you truly value 35s with no trimming than ya don’t go crazy with offset

From other rigs on this forum and the research I’ve done, I would recommend the 18x9 +18

I’ll be installing +19 (20x9) and 35s this Tues after level installed, so I’ll share feedback after as that’s about your identical set up

Hey Phoenixxlx, you are going 18x9 +20 wheels with the factory tires? Being the factory is 18x7.5 +30 I would think you should be good for clearance as you are only pushing outwards 10 mm and shouldn’t require a lift. I’m not a professional but I would think you are good with that set up unless you are trying to increase tire size also, then a leveling kit would likely be required to not rub. Thanks and good luck!
Keep in mind you need to adjust the amount it's moving because of the wheel width difference.

How do you all think the 18x9 fuel Maverick black with milled look on these?

Installed earlier this week:

2.5” Rough Country Tremor Coil-overs
35x12.50 Yokohama Geolander MT
20x9 (+19) Fuel Sledge

Really changed the look of the truck and can def hear an MT hum compared to stock tires, but these are quieter than most MT I have had in the past or driven.

There was stock Tremor at dealer so did some side by side pics to compare the difference

Mavericks are great. I prefer the all black vs the milled with the chrome trim but that’s just personal preference. Those are very nice wheels!

After reading through various threads here, I'd like to lift the front with the new Rough Country 2.5" coilover lift kit - leaving the factory blocks alone in the rear as I like the slight rake it leaves. I also like the stock rims, but want to get slightly bigger tires so I'm going to go with the 295/70r18 Cooper ST Maxx. I've never lifted a truck or changed out anything from stock . . .

  1. Do I ask the dealer to do the lift when the truck finally gets delivered one of these days or should an off road or tire shop to it?
  2. Can the dealer also put on the new tires or do I need to take it to a tire shop?
  3. Once those 2 questions are answered, how to I get my speedometer adjusted?
  4. With the larger tires on the stock rims, is there anything I need to be concerned with re: offset? I'm not super familiar with all this stuff.
Thanks guys!

Hey IXTHYS, happy to share my experience with these questions and hope you find all your answers.

1. My local Ford dealer, Mac Haik in Georgetown, TX, both ordered and installed the lift. They were $200 more expensive than 4WP but provided warranty for parts/labor, so I felt that was worth it.

2. Yes, they can def order and install the tires, alignment, mount/balance, etc…most dealer price match anyones tire sales. I use Discount Tire b/c their warranty is awesome and full replacement no questions asked but your dealer can def handle the tires as well.

3. Going up only 1” in tire diameter you might not need to as your speedometer will be off, but barely. There are kits you can buy or I have seen others post using ForScan on this forum for this.

4. With a 295/70r18 on the factory wheels, I can’t speak from personal experience on the Tremor since I have aftermarket wheels, but looks like that is the tire size of choice for most on this forum, and all appear to be fine for rubbing/fitment on the factory wheels.

Good luck with your mods!!

Thanks for all the comments. I'll look into FORScan.

If you go up a tire size or two and have it done at the dealer at least in my experience they've always calibrated the speedo. I buy all my tires through the dealer, saved over $150 the last set I bought.

Just picked these up today. Sneak peek. 18x9 fuel Mavericks.

Charley, good look with your desired set up but a true 35x12.50 and 0 offset I think it’s gonna be super tight. I tried on a +1 Fuel 20x9 with 35x12.50 (before the leveling kit) and quickly decided to go with a +19 because of the rub when at full lock.

I’m having the RC coilover level installed on Tues with 35x12.50r20 with +19 and will report back the fitment. I think I’m gonna be close but doable.

With the 0 offset you are planning I really think you will likely need to cut out or remove the crash bars. Thanks and good luck with your build though, the 0 offset does look pretty awesome though (more aggressive)

Attached are some “before” pics at stock height with the tire/wheel combo to be installed after the leveling kit
Awesome post, thanks for sharing!

Has anyone put on aftermarket wheels without leveling or lifting? I'm not interested in losing any function and I don't see a confirmed leveling kit yet that does this (ideally would like to keep 1.5-2" of rake anyways, just not the full 4"), considering getting the wheels and tires in the meantime though. Something like 18s with 295s, method, fuel, or weld bronze

Okay about to pull the trigger on some wheels, 18x9 +20. Going to run the Grabbers for now, they suit my needs. I was told by the guy at the shop that I would have to lift the front. Anyone know if he's right?? I don't intend to lift it at all.
Im going to run the same setup with rime size and offset but I have a 2” level. I haven’t put them on yet, probably middle of the month and I will update how it looks with the level and clearances

Might swap out my OEM tires and wheels when I pick up my Tremor... What's a good listing price for those tires/wheels right off of the lot?

I think another member sold for $1k. I'd list for $1200-$1300 personally.
