What's new

Stock wheels or aftermarket. Can’t decide

expensive just means less ppl running around with same wheels as you.
I really like the look of the Rebel 6s but they are for sale in every shop I walk into and I see them multiple times a day on other trucks to the point that it's just turned me off lol.

Going to get methods or welds not only because I like them, but because I see them far less so they feel more unique. 🤷‍♂️

Methods are everywhere with the off road crowd. I like the 704 in titanium, but it's only offered in a 17x8.5 with 0 offset. I'm black wheeled out. I had them way before they where cool. Now it's hard to find something other than black.

I mean someones going to have the same set lol, but its a lot less than Fuel/XD/moto metal, at least in Miami. I do really like the rebel 6s though, in bronze.

I'm realistically between the method 305s in bronze and the welds in bronze that another user on this forum has (i think @captain lead foot has these in black), can't remember the name right now. Not willing to spend more than $300-400/rim.

Guys I kinda favor these which I know this isn't something a lot of people like, only problem is the offset.

312’s actually but ya in my town one dude has same rims on a Jeep and that’s all I’ve seen/heard of so far

I have ran Methods on my Raptors and they are a great wheel, company and pretty light. But I keep getting a warning on Custom Offsets that the Methods I like don't have a matching hub bore. Most are at 87.00 or larger. The 21-22's call for 87.10. Does this make a difference if the Hub bore is larger? You guys go or thinking 17's or 18's ? thanks

Not sure on the hub bore. For me I put the truck in first to see matching rims, and the ones I noted come up. 18x9, +0 or +18 for me as I don't want an aggressive offset.

When I was wheel shopping I went to methods website typed in 21 f150 and it said the 312’s would fit and they do definitely snug on the hub bore but in a good way. Maybe check there website out

I'm interested in the Method Bead Grip wheels. When I talked with Custom Offsets they said they wouldn't fit due to the hub bore mentioned above. Then I saw a picture from someone on this forum with Method wheels on their Tremor, so I called Method and asked and they confirmed they are hub centric and will fit on our truck.

Well, after seeing a picture of Methods on a Tremor and Method confirming they'll fit, I'm back to going the Bead Grip route. Was wanting to go with 17" but was concerned with the 0 offset, so at this point, I'm thinking of going with the 18" wheel and the +18.

Now the next question, how does Method's bronze look on a Stone Gray or just stick with black?

The guy on this forum with the bronze welds is on a stone gray, I think it looks really good. I might opt for black if I had a stone gray though for contrast, which is the same reason I want bronze on my Oxford white, it contrasts well. You'd be good either way imo, personal preference. Black has more rim options though. The 305s I mentioned are bronze with a black lip, so best of both worlds?

I may be going crazy, but I love these gold wheels. They look like they would match the Tremor orange. Super expensive for just a daily driver at $1K each. But it would be different.

Unless it's the design you like, just have a different set of wheels powder coated to match.

Most aftermarket wheels, unless they are custom fit have a larger hub bore. Normally you can purchase plastic or aluminum hub center rings to center them on the hub when you torque them down. I wouldnt have an concern with a larger hub bore wheel as long as there a hub centering ring available. I would have no problem running 0.10mm bigger hub bore.

How much should a good powdercoat for a set of 4 rims cost? I'm wondering about getting a set of black methods and having them powder coated to match the orange of the exterior trims of the truck. $100/rim?

Would aftermarket 18x9s like method fit on our stock tires?

I'd just buy a better tire and sell the old ones. The factory tires are literally the bottom of the barrel, but I bet a lot of regular F150 guys would snatch them up. Who wouldn't want Tremor tires? ;) At least you'd have a decent tire and you can spec one that fits a 9" wheel.

I've heard prices anywhere from $100-200 per wheel.

Only reason is I'm waiting for more options for leveling and I don't want to buy tires because I don't think the at3s I want will fit without a level, and I don't want to buy another set when I level if I buy a smaller set now. So I figured maybe i could just buy the rims, put them on the stock tires, and do the new tires with the level.

Sell the stock rims with no tires.

Makes sense. Too bad the suspension options are so slow in coming.
